Why would Iran go out of its way to basically commit suicide? Because let's be honest, if it is Iran then they just committed suicide. You really believe they would do that? Why?
Iran commits suicide every day by getting on the wrong side of Israel through its export of terror which in turn pisses off the leadership of the greatest power the world has ever seen the USA. I can hear the sounds of Iraqification on the way

It's seems to me it is NOT Iran's interests to attack oil tankers or Israel in any way. BUT it is in the interest of Israel to attack Iran because they would become the only major power in the Middle East. I think Israel would do ANYTHING to get the US to bomb the Shiite out of Iran.

If only there were some international incident were Iran can be blamed to inspire the US to bomb Iran....

Well it's good timing for oil/gas/petrol prices to go up b/c it's summer. This means the oil producers make more $$ b/c people drive more in the summer. There is a tendency for these things to happen in June, something to make oil prices rise "for some reason".

Also, the whole thing with Iran might be more than just oil/resources. Take a look at China's plan for the new Silk Road. I think it would probably have to go through Iran to make it a reasonable route to Europe and still serve Western Asia, the Middle East and Africa. If you can block this road at Iran, then that puts a major damper on the plans to build out the new global road.

Why does China need a road to Europe when they already transship via rail?

Well pics and videos dont look bogus, they are pretty much on fire, both were hit by torpedos. Both hit relatively close to Iran's coast. Hate it but sooner or later its gonna warrant a US very well measured response.

More likely a mine, a torpedo would have left a massive hole in the hull.

Exactly, and the same goes for the so-called gas attacks in Syria.

Always, always, always, ask the question (corollary to 'follow the money'): who benefits?

It might not be in Iran's interest to bring on Iraqification to their nation.......................... However rogue elements within the Iranian military who are up for bringing on the Mardi might be well be behind this attack. As Kissinger said a few years ago, you can't have that much weaponry in such a confined area without something going off at some point of time

I think Japan should respond with "gundam's"

15 year old Girls in short skirts inside a 25 ft giant armed robot would make a Mullah piss himself

that would be fun...👍👍🤸‍♀️

Why?
Not our ships.
Not our cargo.

Let the Japanese respond.

whats far more likely is that Iran is being provoked into retaliating to provocations by a major power so they can them claim to the world that they have been attacked therefore they can use that as an excuse to bomb Iran back to the stone age like Iraq., Afghanistan, and now Syria have.

And the most likely culprit for actions like this is Isarael - or the US.

What exactly has Iran done wrong in the world such that it can be credibly called a threat to other countries ?????

Iran is one of the only remaining countries of any significance that is still not under the thumb of the World Bank.

Follow the money, grasshopper.

Like any good "whodunnit" mystery, the list of suspects is long and none of them can be trusted.

And as with any classic mystery, the key to unraveling it lies not in what the suspects have done, but in what they do next.

Iran is being squeezed by additional sanctions, so they want everyone to know that the Strait is a dangerous place.

I'm sorry, but yes they really are that stupid. These kind of people only see what they want to see in the world, and think that they can hide when it is blatantly obvious that they are responsible.

I love how they think they could "win" a war with the US, when the US could take them out in less than a week, with very few ground troops even needed. SO many new weapons systems to try out.

Fred..

That’s what i was thinking

And even if it was Iran, I have no confidence in our intel community’s to be honest anymore

So if trump acts without showing proof of this being Iran, I will strongly condemn that

My concern is that these tankers will start to get military escorts through the strait, and one of those escorts will be hit (this could be from a number of parties, all having their own interests). To me, that seems like the most probable scenario for real escalation in the region.

The problem with torpedos is what launched them? I'll go with mines as well. Could be some left overs from the 80's minings.
