Don't be silly no-one has suggested anything remotely like legalising any sort of sex crime, murder or anything else you mentioned.

And why would they?
It bears no relevance on whether prostitution should be legalised or not.

Can't we just discuss one topic on its own individual merits?

And how exactly does legalising prostitution 'fail miserably' at all those other crimes, please explain.
It might be me being incredibly stupid - very possible - but I don't understand your reasoning or logic.

Personally I don't think outright prohibition of anything is a good idea, looks like most disagree with me.

I also demand being made a decent breakfast the next day or no more calls for you!

... and that's why there will always be prostitution.

In the immortal words of Chef, "You don't pay a prostitute for sex, you pay her to leave afterwards."

I don't have anything against sex workers, I knew a couple of prostitues many years ago. I never went out with them because I was scared I might get something, but I did consider them friends of mine. Some are good people some are not.

I think New York just wants to license and tax the industry. We all know that the reason government says it is ok is if they can get a piece of the action.

I can see a lot of relationships being destroyed if they make prostitution legal though. It will really increase revenue for the medical and pharma industries, so our insurance rates will go up. Hey, Doctors do need more money so they can give their workers a better wage.

And I see that being a silver lining. Two mindsets of many to look at this with -- if one is openly getting into the profession (as opposed to clandestinely) because they're, for example, an insatiable nympho who wants to get paid for the boning (like a porn actor/actress) and the other half disagrees with the choice and thinks they can tame the wild bronco, then they can walk long before they get further into a doomed relationship that isn't for them.

If one is able to compartmentalize or view things from an open relationship or job angle and the other can't or won't, they can walk from the person who will never be their actual other half anyway. Two polar opposites in the bedroom don't a relationship make. A break-up, however, it does.

It's better to know outright early on what someone's aspiring to and whether or not you can cope with it yourself than to stick it out in misery with someone you're really not meant for and vice versa.

You can't help the ones doing it for the wrong reasons -- abuse-rooted reasons -- if they don't want to help themselves first, and if they're crazy to begin with, you should know better than to stick your dick in that in the first place, or have that crazy dick stuck in you. Legalizing just makes prostitution safer and less disease-riddled. It won't fix broken people, horny toads, jealous people, etc.

A step in the right direction, imagine all the resources that would free up just from that cops show alone...

I'm suggesting that for the vast majority of prostitutes, nothing about legalizing prostitution will improve anything for them. They'll still be low-class, low-rent call girls working the streets. Their lives will not get any safer.

So the only way you're reducing any crime through this is by simply making some things currently classed illegal legal. It won't actually reduce any of the associated crimes that go with prostitution. The women who get raped, assaulted, robbed, murdered, etc., because they take on random strangers with no vetting are still going to suffer those crimes.

Low-rent call girls on the streets aren't going to be any more likely to get regular check-ups or anything else than they are now.

All you might do is create a higher class of girl who will be able to afford to set herself up, but the underclass will still be the underclass and as vulnerable as ever to all the same things she is now ... except getting busted for selling herself.

Don't know what first hand experience you have of countries with legalised prostitution but its my experience that you are wrong in your assessment.

And I still think that the majority of people who oppose legalised prostitution do so due to outdated moral indignation or a desire to impose their beliefs and morals on others.

This is beautiful, it will certainly help young girls with their self image. Social media has already done so much good for the younger ones.

When do you think they'll start giving lessons in school? I hope the prostitutes that read the fairytale books to the children will at least dress appropriately.

I'm so happy to be alive that I can witness these times.

I hope the prostitutes will tell everybody exactly what life is like in the trenches, so people will know what they will be getting into.

It's legal in Nevada. Does that change the reality of human trafficking and low-rent call girls on the streets there? No. All it does is create the opening for the better class of high priced girls who can afford to maintain themselves better because they can command the kind of prices that will support them and because they keep themselves clean.

"Controlled environment" my @ss! To be a prostitute, you're still talking about taking on random clients you know nothing about for money.

It is generally much safer for both the prostitute and client when it's a regulated legal industry.

When it comes to escorts they'll generally ask clients they don't know for i'd and proof of residents and usually have a 'security guard' waiting outside.

In brothels there's obviously some kind of panic button or way they can call for assistance. Also there regularly tested and trained in identifying std's.

That's not to say it's 100% safe or that a legal prostitution industry is completely free of exploitation and 'criminal' elements... But it's still far better than the alternative of making it illegal.

Their really is no real logical argument for why it should be illegal... except personal moral beliefs.

Just like legalizing abortion was all about it being safe, legal and rare, right?

I wonder if they will be looking for teachers to teach the college prostitution classes. I wonder what kind of degree you would need to teach that class?

I think people that have not lived in countries that it is legal can't wrap their mind around it.
Legalizing it is much safer and better for prostitutes. Of course there will always be people that fall wayside, but that is in any industry.

Also comparing one tiny tiny area in one state, to an entire country legalizing it is totally different.

There are people that don't like it. To those people, I'd say don't be a prostitute and don't use one.
Who are we to tell two people if they can have relations and exchange money.
Why is a tattoo artist allowed to permanently mark another human?

I think we all have to share this world.

I know some people love checking prostitutes out while they drive down the main road. I always have to swerve for those bastards just stopping in the middle of nowhere to get a little action.

I don't. I like a lifestyle that is wholesome and good for children. A balanced life is good. I learnt self control and how to be a better person. I respected adults. I didn't start posting dick pics at the age of 13. The girls weren't taking sexualised selfies.

You like this new perverted world, I don't.

If you can make a way where all these little deviants can go live I'd love that. Better yet obviously the people with old values are so outnumbered by the people with zero self control.

Make a tiny little island and the +-15 people with the old values can try and raise families like it was.

It's this new life that makes me unhappy. I force my lifestyle on no one. Yet your choices get forced on everyone and their families. Yet you point the finger lol.

I don't care if two deviants that have failed at the most basic of human communication are too awkward to get laid and need to pay for it. Not my problem but when that # spreads into the streets it becomes my problem.

The oldest industry known to man.

Historians and anthrologists tend to agree it really is. Or at least every single one I've ever heard address the topic agrred it was.

Then it got Prohibited at some point.

And then Pimping became a proper thing.

And Big Pimping became romanticized by Mainstream media (which includes music and etc entertainment industries BTW).

Eventually Backpage gave 'hookers' the means to gather their own clienteles and not be beholden to street pimps / street corners (owned by Pimps) to perform in their trade, and "Trump" shut it down to his supporters glee.

Hmm. Um. Yeah.

Those historians counting the cave man years?

Think murder industry was up and running long before man ever had to pay for sex.

If we are to believe the narrative wasn't man just dragging woman around taking everything he wanted?

Though I'd never believe any historians, don't they get the same information available for anyone else to read on the Internet now days and then have to spin a new fantasy otherwise they wouldn't really get paid for anything?

Just how I look at things anyway.

IMO, the motivation for this is that they know their policies will force more and more people into prostitution in order to survive so they are decriminalising it in readiness.

I do not have a problem with a woman selling her goods if you will but in this law they need to put in safe guards that block pimps and organized crime out of the picture otherwise these guys will keep doing their thing except now it will be legal.
It's sad in lv and California you can tell with girls work for each different pimps because the pimps have tats placed on all their girls . A popular brand is a pair of playing cards another is a dolphin. I had a friend in Las Vegas that was tangled up in this business back in the day she started in industry when she was 16 her pimps worked her on streets till she got pregnant then he had her working in cam industry and making fetish videos for a website..
