Fishing Is Now Under Attack By PETA

My father used to take my sister and I fishing as kids. So many good memories walking on a forest trail, to get to the stream with my sister and father. The beauty of the waterway and forest around us, with the anticipation and excitement of catching a trout, sure beat pedaling around my neighborhood on my bike.



As an adult, I took my kids fishing when they were younger and they both loved it. Not only was it a good bonding experience and a chance for them to enjoy nature, but I always found it so relaxing and peaceful. Even today, when I feel stressed, I drive to my favorite "bass hole" to unwind and enjoy the surroundings.

I was browsing fishing websites, to read up on tips for fishing for bass in Upstate NY, when I read that PETA issued a warning, two days ago, in a tweet that stated, “Don’t go fishing this summer, or EVER.”



Apparently, fish feel pain and anyone who enjoys fishing are "cruel." Today, we now have people who worry about the well being of fish and who now condemns anyone who casts a lure, or bait into the water. They're even against the practice of "hook and release," which is intended as a technique of conservation. According to PETA, this practice causes "severe physiological stress that they (the fish) often die of shock."

Catch-and-release fishing is cruelty disguised as “sport.” Studies show that fish who are caught and then returned to the water suffer such severe physiological stress that they often die of shock.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has denounced fishing as a cruel sport, insisting that fish feel pain and urging all anglers to become vegans.

“Fish are sentient individuals who feel pain,” PETA stated in a tweet Friday. “Invading an animal’s natural habitat, harassing them, killing them, and eating them for fun is so cruel.”

Anyone who considers a fish a "sentient individual" is a moron. Like someone stated on a fishing forum, "It's called the food chain. Do they get upset when a lion eats a gazelle?" Or, when a Grizzly rips open a salmon?

Animals, as much as even people like me can personify them, are not people. They should not have the equivalent of human rights, as PETA and other militant groups would like.

IMO, this is another lame attempt to promote veganism, by demonizing a hobby that is enjoyed by nearly 50 million Americans:

PETA people? Now while I may not slap them. . . . . . . I'd eat fish in front of them. Then bacon just because. . well. . . . bacon.

Until they cried.

Then I might have to slap them because they're a bunch of crying sissies.

Keep in mind that this is the same PETA that kills almost 90% of the pets they "rescue".

So when this money hungry group with the blood of kittens and puppies dripping from it's hands demands justice for animals I just laugh and laugh....

until I remember they take in almost $60 million a year.

A human embryo feels pain at 20 weeks... perhaps they should focus their work elsewhere.

Although I'm personally against catch and release... think about it.

You hook a fish, fight it until it is weak and barely alive, then throw it back to die.

That's just a waste.... gut, cook and eat it.

I'm waiting for the "vegetables feel pain" movement... I've read a little bit about it so far and I think it's the next movement that will ensure humans no longer have a bowel movement without some guilt attached.

I did read somewhere that a PETA founder thought it best that people stop having children and die off so that the animals could rule the world...
