The number of kids questioning their gender, or identifying as the opposite sex, is increasing. And the increase among girls is astronomical -- like 4,000%. One researcher has called it "Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria " (ROGD) and wrote a report about it which was published, then taken down after backlash from the Trans Activist community, with backlash then about taking the report down, and it has been re-issued. I haven't seen Jenner personally cited as a motivation or inspiration, but it also seems that trans activist issues became much more mainstream about the same time, including Obama's directive to replace "sex" based legal protections/accommodations with "gender" based protections/accommodations. Other possible causes that have been cited are autism/aspergers, sexual abuse/PTSD, social contagion, as well as a form of "homophobia" or "gay conversion," in which lesbian girls would prefer to be seen as "straight" boys. For boys, porn addiction -- especially so-called "sissy" porn -- is also blamed.

Leave the damn kids alone... I mean as adults we can all agree on that one thing? I sure hope we can.

Nope. Has never and will never happen, because I have never -- and would never -- protest transgender people.

I might, if the situation arises, protest against laws and/or policies regarding transgenders that I oppose, but I would never protest transgender people. I would never protest a transgender person living life as they wish or having the same rights guaranteed and protected by our laws and the Constitution. I am quite happy to see folks break gender roles and gender norms and gender stereotypes, and have known and loved many people who did so... "butch" women and flamboyant men and all kinds of mixing and matching.

So I understand very well that if I do so, that I might very well be personally attacked. But it won't be because I'm protesting transgender persons, just transgender policies and laws.

Well, you're right. It is personal for various reasons -- but not that reason.

In the grand scheme of things, I am among the least affected... but some of the people I love most are among the most affected, especially those in the LGB community. And of course I don't want to speak for them on ATS, and I make it a rule to never get all my information in one place (even people I love and trust!), so I do my own research. And then share it here. Including my concerns, my fears and my outrage.

I saw a story recently about a teacher who bullied a child asking him continually if he’s transgender and giving him books in his book bag to read about it. I believe the parents are going to sue. It’s this kind of thing that is inappropriate and radical. It just should not going on in our schools, and yet the radicals , in the name of diversity, are attempting to normalize it and push it on young children who are vulnerable and impressionable. Oh the the child was also traumatized.

I was gender dysphoric way back before the internet or had seen porn. I like girls still only. Not all trans want a dude that reminds them of their imperfections.

It is scary that they allow kids to use hormones to change their bodies for life before they allow kids to drink or drive.

yo let me pull you up on that real quick - NO ONE is just letting kids use hormones. That's not happening.
Most of what's done with kids in these circumstances is extensive and long lasting therapy - figuring out the root of their perceived need to change gender and understanding if there are treatments that would suit them better - if transition is the answer or if it just feels like it, as well as more general stuff like helping their families understand what's going on and to acclimatise to the situation and concepts involved.

Why on earth would you take these sites at their word? they all but have headers proudly proclaiming I Hate All Trans And I Wish They Would Die On Fire, what makes you think they would possibly be the most balanced source of information in all this?
But no of course some old git with an axe to grind says they're chucking out progynova like it's halloween candy so of course! it must be true?

Also I've watched a little bit of TV where they follow this young trans person around. He/She takes hormones. I guess one of us must be wrong.

Also one of us was talking about lizard people. So yes we have that base to start working out which one of us is the crazy one.

Fair enough; I can see the logic there. But I would then consider it more of a weakness or vulnerability -- the sissy and degradation aspects being exploited. That's not mentally or emotionally healthy.

My apologies if I was not clear enough in that I do not think it's an issue or aspect for everyone; but it does seem to be a factor for some/many. I have no idea how to quantify numbers. Actually, I don't think it's possible to quantify.

The last thing I'm going to say on this because the responses in this thread are sickening.

We don't allow underage kids to drink alcohol because they aren't at the "right" age yet. Yet we allow them to # their endocrine system up for life. That is no small #ing thing.

Lol just imagine some person advocating 13 year old body builders are allowed to take testosterone because they feel like they might be a body builder in a kids body.

Get the # out of here.
