House Budget Committee Chairman John Yarmuth (D-Ky.) said he and Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) will host Dr. Bandy Lee, a Yale School of Medicine psychiatrist who edited the best-selling book “The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump: Psychiatrists and Mental Health Experts Assess a President.”

So House Dems are holding this event, probably in July, which basically amounts to a publicity stunt to help a disgraceful "psychiatrist" sell her new book. I wonder who is footing the bill for this by the way. After all, recently they've been whining about Trump holding an Independence Day event at the Lincoln Memorial because it's a waste of taxpayer money. From a political standpoint, I have no problem with this. It's not gonna hurt Trump. The only people who believe this nonsense are people who already hate him and would never vote for him. If anything, this will only alienate more moderates and Independents who are sick of this garbage.

My main problem with it is what it does to the psychiatric industry. During the 2016 campaign, the APA had to put out a statement telling psychiatrists to knock this garbage off because they kept going on TV purporting to "analyze" candidate Trump. It's unprofessional and irresponsible Here's what the APA said at the time(my emphasis):

While the APA can't tell politicians and the media how to act, it is encouraging its members not to offer opinions on someone they haven't personally evaluated.

Called the Goldwater Rule, psychiatrists may share with the public their expertise on psychiatric issues in general, but it's considered unethical to offer an opinion unless they've conducted an examination and have been given permission to talk about it.

"Simply put, breaking the Goldwater Rule is irresponsible, potentially stigmatizing, and definitely unethical," Maria Oquendo told members this week.

I'm not concerned about it stigmatizing Trump. But in an industry that already has a stigma around it and where some people are reluctant to seek help, this is dangerously irresponsible. People already don't trust therapists. Some people feel the whole industry is a sham. Some people think it's just a moneymaking scheme and that therapy just doesn't work. As someone who has struggled with mental health issues the past few years, I find this entire charade offensive. I personally know people who have issues and won't seek help. Do you think # like this reinforces their belief that psychiatry isn't a serious field and won't be able to help them? And I'm not the only one who has these concerns.

If anything, some of these people may need to be psychoanalyzed. We've had therapists claiming Trump supporters are closet homosexuals (the hilarious part about this one is the transparent objective was obviously to try to erode Trump's support because they think Trump supporters are so homophobic they'll change their political views rather than "be gay"--so uninformed and childish) and psychiatrists purporting to analyze Trump's entire support base, which is absurd. There was even a story a year or two ago about a therapist that specifically said they wouldn't help Trump supporters, although I can't find the link for it right now so feel free to dismiss that as anecdotal (does anyone have a hard time believing that, though?)

So why are these people willing to sacrifice their professional integrity and reputations, and in the process damage their profession and alienate people who need legitimate help? It looks like, you guessed it, because Trump. Just like the New York Times threw out their professional standards during the election (and later apologized for their bias), the psychiatric community threw out their standards because Trump.. They threw out the Goldwater rule because too many of them were so freaking partisan they just couldn't be professional anymore, so they changed their professional rules. Kind of like the scientists changing the data to match their climate models instead of trying to fix their models.

The election was 2 and a half years ago. Grow the # up and move on already. Stop hurting the people you're supposed to be helping.

If all they need to do is point out that Trump is a nut, that seems like an open and shut case to me.

To have any real impact, they'd have to explain why nuts shouldn't be allowed to vote for their favorite nut.

She's a doctor of something. That doesn't necessarily mean she's smart though. I had a professor that had a doctorate in International Politics and still thinks socialism is a good idea.

"As Estroff Marano pointed out, “It is widely regarded as unethical—a violation of the so-called Goldwater Rule—for mental health experts to offer a professional diagnosis of any person they have not personally examined. The rule was established in 1973 by the American Psychiatric Association and is still in force today. Although psychologists are not expressly forbidden from making public pronouncements about the mental health of public figures, the American Psychological Association has affirmed the rule and psychologists generally abide by it.”"

The Democrat leadership jumped the shark a while ago.
I guess Happy Days taught them nothing.
They keep setting up bigger pools with bigger sharks.
Soon, the motorcycle will run out of gas.

The left has the media, the public school system, universities, most politicians. . .

And this is the best they can come up with to try to oust a sitting president.

"Pathetic" doesn't even begin to describe the utter desperation that these Marxist assholes are exhibiting.

President Trump should have the Senate form a committee to have the house Democrats examined by a non-partisan group of psychiatrists and psychologists to evaluate their ability to serve in the House. Much better than a single book written about Orange Man Bad.

ETA: There shall be NO classification whatsoever.

Then, let the chips fall where they may...

Accusations have been circulating on Twitter that the prominent Yale professor, known for her public diagnosis of President Donald Trump as having a “mental impairment” and who recently met with lawmakers on Capitol Hill to discuss the issue, isn’t actually a licensed psychiatrist.

In fact, Campus Reform discovered that according to the State of Connecticut, Lee’s “physician/surgeon” license expired in 2015, and her application for reinstatement has been “pending” ever since.

Cover Blown

In response to Campus Reform’s inquiry on the matter, Lee simply stated that “I need only one license,” though she has yet to elaborate on precisely which license that is, and, according to the state in which she resides, she allegedly has none.
