Whatever Happened to Unity in America ? We Once Had it , but some Evil People Want to take it Away . Live and Let Live . A Noble Ideal IMO .

I'm not sure we all ever really had that unity, but I knew it at one time, and I'd love to have that back again. There was a time when many of us were happy to respect and appreciate the people around us without attaching the labels -- especially the hateful ones! When we might not like something or approve of something, but we all knew "it's a free country -- you can do what you want." And we didn't hate people just for being different.

I knew that world once...

It's not Brad Pitt, it's Milo Yiannopoulos. EIther this is comedy or it's an obvious gay pride false flag operation.

Um... Brad is just their mascot... I don't think he'll be marching with them at all!

Milo as guest speaker I thought was just speculation here on ATS; have you seen it confirmed somewhere?

Your points are well taken...

But now it's been taken to the other extreme, with others being forced to serve the gay lifestyle, and that's no better. I'm talking bakers and florists and photographers, etc., whose lives and livelihoods are ruined -- at the barrel of a government gun -- for declining to provide their labor and service. Ain't nothing good or virtuous about that.

Everyone should have seen the reciprocation coming. Most did. Only those most determined to punish and abuse and avenge all the awful hetersexuals don't see it. And only because they've blinded themselves.

I just pretty much made that case to another poster in my last reply!

I get it.

But at some point, we all need to start acting like adults, give everyone the proper respect and courtesy due a fellow human, and walk away from what we must/choose. In other words, live and let live. If folks aren't hurting anyone, leave them be.

But...why on earth do asexual people need a parade ? I wasnt aware they have issues ? Are they being attacked, beaten ?

what a world...

I don't get it exactly. But from what I could gather, apparently the world is made for couples -- or at least lovers -- and the asexual are excluded.

I found that odd. I've told my husband for years that if I'm ever single again, I'll stay that way. I thought that was a natural way of life as well.... so what do I know!

I think the greater point -- both now with this Straight Pride parade and with the original Gay Pride parades -- is to say that no one should be shamed or lessened for their sexuality.

while you mentioned it...is that true ? Do you feel that NOBODY...should be ashamed or lessened for their sexuality ? NOBODY...really ?

Just one look at porn site categories would beg to differ
How about sex with animals ? Pedos ? What about people that like sh****** and pis***** on people ? And where does it end ? Should everybody really just be proud for what they are ?

I'm happy to let consenting adults do as they wish on their own time. I'm most bemused that so many people seem to think it's appropriate to wear one's sexuality on their sleeve...

Agreed. I dont mind if you want to expose your sexuality to the world. But dont expect or demand that everybody likes it.

I have never heard anyone being judged for not indulging in sex. Who the hell cares if you're having any or not ? Plenty of older people are not having any anymore. Stuff just doesnt work anymore. Are they somehow being disadvantaged by society ? Maybe I'm not informed sufficiently.

It gets ridiculous more and more with every new letter they add to LGBQT...

Well -- excellent point -- and I guess in my head I consider those perversions, not sexuality. Consenting adults can do what they will. Or do nothing at all. And there's always those self-evident rights...

But even as I type this, I'm rethinking this. And I guess I have been. Porn is not what it used to be. Sissy porn... rape porn... Abuse porn... I'm horrified by much of what I've been reading and I feel like we've given society -- and KIDS!!! -- a loaded gun with no firearms training. It's pretty darn scary.

I don't get it either. I don't understand this need for labels. I don't understand this need for outside validation of these labels. I don't understand reducing us all down to bits and parts and certain acts. Nothing to be proud of and nothing to be ashamed of. Should just be what it is and kept in perspective.

We are all so much more than this. We all have the capability to be so much more.

It's all so regressive and repressive.

I dont know how old you are...but I'm old enough to see it all progress in a last few decades. Honestly, I dont trust human beings to do the right thing...given absolute freedom to do as we please. That's why I'm siding more and more with the conservative line of thinking as I get older. We need rules and boundaries...which are of course always a torn in many a sides...but to me, leaving it to "personal feelings" is far worse (which to me is evident in current times) ...I fear where it will all end in a hundred years.

I think people are just not aware what it takes to have a civilized society. And how fragile it is.

I guess only gay folks can celebrate how they screw other people.

Or not apparently... I was very surprised to learn just recently that the asexual -- the voluntarily celibate -- is considered part of the LGBT. Under the "transgender umbrella."

How that works I have no idea!!!

Wait! You mean they let celibate Christians who voluntarily give up sex in order to be closer to God march in their Pride parades, especially if they also endorse the Biblical beliefs on sexuality and marriage?!

Really?

I have to see that. I didn't know that was part of LGBT + Whatever Other Letters We're Adding This Week. In fact, I thought they were busy suing people with those beliefs, or are you exempt from lawfare if you are celibate but believe in that stuff?

LOL! I didn't see that one coming!!! I should have, but didn't.

Bet they won't either

in a hundred years...

I hope where no one has any personal feelings. And if anyone starts to feel anything at all, sever punishment and reeducation until they get their mind right. What good is a soul in a Corporate, fascists, oligarchy....that's where our path leads....

UPDATE: It's not Brad Pitt, it's Milo Yiannopoulos. EIther this is comedy or it's an obvious gay pride false flag operation.

So it is!

REVEALED: 'Straight Pride' organizers' links to notorious white supremacy groups as they replace 'mascot' Brad Pitt with right-wing pundit Milo Yiannopoulos after complaints from the actor

As the controversy from the parade's announcement spread on Thursday, Brad Pitt - who the men had named as their 'mascot' - denounced it.

His representatives contacted them asking for him to be removed from their site.

In response, they named Milo Yiannopoulos as his replacement.

Most of the article actually focuses on their "sinister" connections:

But as they had their plans mocked online, details of their more sinister political links emerged. Sahady and Bartley are both part of Resist Marxism, a Conservative group founded by the infamous New Zealand activist Kyle Chapman in 2017.

More at the link of course!

Is Milo speaking or just the mascot? Again, this is still speculation until they formally announce it. I'm sorry I jumped the gun on it because now everyone thinks it's the truth. That's how fake news gets started for the record.

But at some point, we all need to start acting like adults, give everyone the proper respect and courtesy due a fellow human, and walk away from what we must/choose. In other words, live and let live. If folks aren't hurting anyone, leave them be.

That's always been my way in life BUT come on, I am not discriminating against those that are different to me so why am I being discriminated against to favor them?, it makes absolutely no sense and I believe the whole concept of PRO discrimination is actually completely discriminatory.

But of note, some ould git I used to work with, an Ex Docker from liverpool swore blind that the gay's have the best party's, he was a married man completely straight (I think) with grown son's - I am not a party animal myself but I suppose that would mean they would likely do this whole pride thing a little bit more flamboyant and even better than we straight and boring guy's would, also let's be fair this thread was really dry humor and how many of us would even bother turning up to such an event, the gay's on the other hand have a kind of comradery that we no longer do, Not my cup of tea but Meh! horses for courses.

And further to prove a point, I had a best friend as a kid called Alex, found out years later he was Gay and had killed himself so I would be the last person to discriminate.

Also we Straight guy's tend to be messy sod's (Except ex army guy's and then they are all about order not taste), have a look and comparison with a Gay fella's home it will usually be immaculate and even better kept than a lady's, they are also better cook's, better actor's and singers among other thing's - most of the time that is.

And the biggest litmus test is this, if your son or daughter was an open out and about gay would you love them any less, the answer is no I would love my kid's just the same.

Also an observation, the one's that (Not those whom for religious reason's) have the biggest problem with different sexuality are usually those that are either completely ignorant and plain stupid OR those that are partially that way inclined themselves BUT are rejecting it perhaps with a number of mental problems' accompanying there anger issue's.
And then there are the bully's.

edit on 7-6-2019 by LABTECH767 because: (no reason given)

For now they've just stated he will be the new mascot... not that he's going to be a guest speaker.

And don't beat yourself up about speculating. I think another poster brought up Milo before you. And in both cases, your speculation was clear. It's those who ran with it as fact rather than speculation that cause problems.

My apologies. I wasn't directing that to you and I should have been more clear.

I was speaking to those at both extremes who have no respect or common courtesy for anyone that doesn't toe their line.

We need to go back to the time when we all knew that "it's a free country" and we can all do as we wish as long as we're not hurting anyone. No one is trying to stop the Gay Pride parade... folks are free to go or to stay away, and do. A Straight Pride parade is no different. Anyone who wants to go can go, and anyone who doesn't want to go can stay away.

For all the talk about freedom and equality, too many people are saying one thing and doing the exact opposite.

Hey no offense take it's a great debate and anything that makes people stand and look at there own bias and bigotry's is an anti discrimination lesson and that makes this a valuable thread in and of itself.
