The problems with our country are not rocket science.

Then stop talking like a space cadet.

You've regurgitated that "It doesn't matter what you pay in taxes. What DOES matter is the purchasing power of your take home pay." nonsense multiple times and it still demonstrates that you know very little about economics. Taxation, when increased to fund handout programs and pander to low income voters, is the second largest destroyer of purchasing power behind the rampant printing of money. If a good costs $10 and we're now suddenly subisidizing the bottom 33% of society, government using tax dollars to buy the good for them, it drives the price up due to demand... but the government continues to subsidize it for the bottom 33%... this means anyone above that 33% theshold now has to pay $12. $13, $15 for something that was previously only $10 due to a lower demand when it wasn't subsidized AND they have to pay more taxes to keep up with the higher cost of subsidizing the bottom 33% through theft from the taxpayers' paychecks.

You are economically unlearned.

Unless you are talking about consumer protections, better working conditions, better wages, better purchasing power of the dollar, then everything you say is meaningless drivel and you are working for them.

Money talks, everything else about politics is BS.

Idiocracy is satire on the entire political process not just one side of it, though I applaud your effort to make it seem that way. Obviously you have been drinking the partisan koolaid a little too much. Who can blame you though, the Democrats are being paid to trigger you just like Trump is only there to trigger the left. Extremism is the end goal and ATS is well on its way to achieving the goal.

so, define "decent living"; For me, it does not involve an automobile, nor grass to mow, nor an HDR TV

so I guess if we use my standard, you don't get a car, you don't get a new Phone, or an HDR TV oh and no children either ( I don't have any )

see how quickly your "decent living" fallacy falls apart??

go ahead, tell me I'm wrong living on 50$ a week.

If I can get a decent living on it why can't you?

You are right. There is no boundary for how the cartels and monopolies can rape the consumer. Every year the purchasing power of the dollar is diminished. The median worker's wage is moving closer and closer to a poverty wage. I have no way to justify how low it should go. Maybe you can help. What is the justification to pay workers at all when productivity from automation is so high? Why not just let worker's starve? Where do you draw the line of social responsibility?

I have no way to logically or rationally justify why having a livable wage is important. It's just an opinion on my part.

Here are the facts:

www.quandl.com...

Just look at 2018 year-over-year wage increases adjusted for inflation. Sad isn't it. It's okay. China is now the only real super power. The US just hasn't accepted it yet.

I'd say one who wasn't a politician, yet still became POTUS.

Redistribution, which is funded by taxation and entails subsidies, welfare, and taxpayer funded handouts absolutely determines the pricing of goods and services. Why the hell do you think it is that cities with the highest rates of homelessness, poverty, and government subsidized rent control housing have staggeringly high rental rates and home prices for people who fall above the threshold for handouts? Demand is driven by the ability to afford, when the government redistributes the earnings of the middle class and upper class, they artificially increase the pool of people who can "afford" something, which drives the prices up higher and higher. When the lower class are enjoying life off the taxpayer's teats, the government generously pays out more as the prices go up to ensure the lower class continue to get their dowries in exchange for voting to keep the Meal Ticket in power... the bill for this is paid double by the tax payer, first they are taxed more to cover buying crap for those being paid for whoring their votes, then they're hit a second time when they try to use their own money to purchase the good for themselves.

You want to increase Americans' purchasing power? Goo 100% merit based. If you don't earn it yourself, you don't get the money for it, period. No handouts, no welfare, no "I exist, pay me," no socialism, no nothing unless you bend your back or take the risks required to earn it yourself. Social Darwinism would generate the strongest economy and mightiest dollar this country has ever seen... but the folks presently too busy sitting on their asses, taking from those with the balls to actually work for it, while whining and bitching about how "unfair" a system where you're actually responsible for yourself is would stop voting for Democrats and, so, the Dems keep that gravy train rolling and shaft the honest half of America with the bill. People seriously need to either STFU and start being personally productive and responsible, or be starved out for the strength of the overall society, as no society of people or animals have ever thrived while coddling the weakest among them. Nature weeds that crap out real fast.

This is also BS. Nothing is ever over produced. With computers and data analytics corporations have predictive models to prevent over production. I'm sure it still happens. But it is very unlikely Walmart ever stocks more in their stores than exactly what is needed by demand with a few percentage points.

The other problem with this argument is why would you assume our capability to produce goods and services would not be enough to meet our own demand. I find it laughable to think with all the huge productivity gains over the last 30 years the corporations producing stuff are not capable to meeting demand 10 times over.

The real question comes down to ethics of why pay anyone livable wages. Why should people have enough money to eat, buy clothing, or afford housing? Why pay people at all? What one person considerable livable and essential is just one computer click away from increasing corporate profits. And we all know the only true religion in this country is corporate profit. Corporate profits and endless war in the ME are the two religions.

Yeah, the 60 billion we spend on black welfare mother is why we are spending a trillion dollars per year on military.

The $19 billion dollars given by Republican Paulson to his buddies at Merrill Lynch is 2008 in the real problem. Everything you talk about is BS.

We will never agree on anything. You think the problem in this country is social security. I think the problems with this country is organized crime running the government pilfering the treasury. In your of thinking we maintain the status quo. In my way of thinking government starts doing its job again by enforcing corruption laws.

Wages are largely based off of the same supply and demand as the price of goods. This only works when it is less advantageous for someone to be unemployed than working a job, however. All of the handouts and subsidies have upset the apple cart there, making it quite lucrative to sit on your ass and live off the teats of the tax payers in exchange for simply giving your vote to whatever liberal huckster is running in your district.

Again, your display of economic acumen is laughable at best.

Wrong again, I don't have a problem with Social Security when it is constrained to the parameters it initially had. You pay into it and get your own money out when you reach retirement age... the problem arose when the liberals decided that even those who paid nothing into SS should reap benefits from it. Again, money in must exceed money out or you have an unsustainable system.

ETA: The status quo we presently have needs some chlorine dumped in the pool. I don't have any desire to maintain a status quo that uses my earnings, under threat of prison and destitution, to buy the votes of those unwilling to provide for themselves.

I think Gillette just had an advertisement about that earlier last month. I want to say it was her and her dad, or something... I may be remembering incorrectly.

did you honestly just say "social responsibility"

Please explain what social resposibility China, Russia, Egypt, and Iran have to the west?

if there is none from them, there is NONE AT ALL.

you are so naΓ―ve, do you think ANY of those coutries feel "guilt" over the US Middle class, is that what you are saying?

If social responsibility is a "thing" it is only in YOUR mind.

I'm aghast you even used those words. I, however am not suprised!

ETA: the way you speak seems like you have never lived anywhere but in NJ.
the USA is Much larger than just NJ, it also sounds like you have never held a job,
or had to move becuase of lack of work, it sounds like you have never put much effort into anything but "liberlism".

Seriously? πŸ‘ŒπŸ±β€πŸ’»
