Road Work...Two Miles!

I'm sorry, I haven't been here too much over the past couple weeks. Every night and every morning I've had to work on our road.

You see, I've often said we live way out in the country. It's true. Our driveway is one mile long, and it leads to a road which is 2.5 miles long. The County Road stars there. Everything between us and the County road is ours to maintain. If everything was flat, life would be good. But everything isn't flat. We live on a 500' hill, and there is a valley between us and the road.

We spent a lot of money to build a road over the "ditch", where the water floods. (2) 60" pipes, to let the water go from north to south.

Around Memorial day, it usually rains...a LOT. But this year it's over the top.

So, my road is 2.5 miles long. I've been out grading it with my tractor for the past two weeks. I'm tired.

I've been out there in lightning, wind, thunder storms, ....I even had to take my distant neighbor's horses into my barn, after they freaked out with the lightning. It's okay....they're some nice girls!!

Also smartphones are a nice thing to have.. This may not be true but I heard you can even go online from whatever you are!!!

You know I respect your industriousness.
That being said, to put this into perspective
ONE new bridge is being installed that
will shut off both North and Southbound
traffic on Interstate 95 here in the Northeast.

This one bridge will affect Millions of people
this weekend alone. Then it will continue as scheduled
for the next 2 or 3 weekends, until it is completed.

So therefore, all things being equivalent,

What does this have to do with the ...
1. Mysterious Congressional Sexual Misconduct Slush Fund(who used it)?
2. The Congressional Insider trading investigation.
3. Why Obummer and his family do not use The Affordable Care Act
themselves.
4.The discussion of Term Limits on Congressional Members that was newsworthy
not that long ago.
5.The long overdue raising of Social Security Caps so that
one filing for (ex.) 1 billion a year is still only being taxed
at the same rate cap as one filing for $111,000 for the same tax year.
6.The Prescription Drug Cost Dilemma ( Americans denied from Free trade
with Canada,Etc. to purchase Pharmaceuticals abroad for market cost.
7.How was it that our Top Secret Noc list was "Hacked" during the last
administration.
8.How one of "Our Top Secret Drones" managed to crash in Iran.
9.How Congress is able to give themselves raises.
10. How the tax records of every Congressman/Woman has not been
investigated for clarity, (I.E. bribery,graft, and other sinfulness).

I put forth these questions to you personally and to our members,
not as to derail your thread, but as a question to your intelligence
and focus.

Clearly you are wise enough to my 10 points,
but you would rather discuss recipes and cow manure.
I am not clear on your motives.

I guess this is the kind of advice you can expect from me. Search the area with your metal detector after the flood, when the water level goes down. You might find the reward you deserve for all the hard work you did.

I feel your pain.

I have the same problems at my cabin. I keep a Bobcat T320 on site for road and trail maintenance and to drag in fire wood.
I’m over a mile from the gravel road that the county keeps up. In the wet season it 4 wheel drive only. After the winter floods, I have some hills in need of base stone again, as soon as it drys up enough to get a dump truck in.
About all I can do is keep the water diverted away from the logging road and keep stone down for traction.

This month is a constant battle using the brush hog to keep the sides from closing in.
