Well, the new trade war, with China, is hurting the farmer at the moment, but that is another story, for another thread. I agree we cannot continue with all these trade deficits. Most people do not care or even understand how trading with other countries even works, they just listen to what the MSM tells them. I know their are many, many, many, sheeple out there watching msm, because my job brings me to many residential homes where they stare at the boob tube to keep up with their stocks and get spoon fed the propaganda. Real matrix crap, when you see the blue pill populace out there. Just because we slap tariffs on a country does not mean we cannot trade with another for the materials and products we want. The goal of a tariffs is to get an effect needed in these cases recently it’s to try to get a correction. I am no trump, lover, at times he acts like a Buffoon. He buisness experience right now is what we need in a president, right now the dumbass corrupt politicians who keep the blue pill sheeple asleep, have really broken allot of crap up there. That is why they have tried to get rid of trump, since he was elected, ignoring the fact that the dossier was bought and paid for by democrats lol. Let that sink in blue pill sheeple.

Carry on with the automation mind play.

Yeah, who cares and no, no one is obsessed with you. It's actually quite pathetic that you can't take criticism and instead, get triggered and think we're obsessed with you, afraid not.

So you are making MORE money now? Sounds like everyone else I know that is benefiting under Trump.

My path to prosperity started long before trump even thought about running for pres.

I have been blessed to own a section of property that has been in my family for over 100 years which allowed me to get a great education and follow my dreams. I make no apologies for my good fortune and playing the system for every dime it legally affords. The talking heads said the same thing the first round of tariffs and the economy jumped more than 3%. The fact these people equate tariffs directly to taxes show's they don't actually know what they are talking about.

5% on goods coming from Mexico equates to pennies on a $500 bill. Who it hurts is Mexico who has been importing goods to America for 25% less than America to Mexico. Mexico will come to the table to negotiate a better deal for America, they have no choice.

Aaaaand then they will technically pay for the wall.

Hi Up. May I tell you this?
I, and really who am I to criticize, find this kind of post invaluable. Indeed, I find it counter productive. Mostly I base this opinion on my negative reactions whenever a conservative makes this kind of ''predictive'' post proclaiming their knowledge of how the ''lefties'' will respond.

My sense of this is that it categorizes people into those two groups we all are being lead to believe are monolithic.
When I see this from conservatives after I have read an OP that I think deserves consideration and then it is followed by the ''here come the lefties'', I quite often get defensive and then do not give the OP the reflection it might deserve on it's own merits. Can you see my thinking here?

And while I agree that from recent tendencies in pro Trumpian posts that what you suggest will be, will be, I still find this kind of prediction of others behavior to be an ineffective if not counter productive addition to all threads. It only adds to antagonisms. AND ITS

Not that I have not done it myself in the past............

Your thinking I am jealous is a bit of self projection. You are giddy at America failing and hate Trump because you and America are making more money.

Sad.

Curious what party you will support. You hate Republicans, and you are a capitalist so you can't vote the Democrat party of socialism.

Good post Red. I read it through trying to find a crack in it, a question I could toss back at you but could find none, unless we question the whole notion of our world economic and labor situation and how it either does or doesn't depend upon some ''having'' and others ''not''. But I"m not up for that now. Some other time maybe.

Let me see if I understand this. Tariffs are bad. (Mkay?)

When we put tariffs on Chinese made goods, that's bad for the economy.

China retaliates by putting (more) tariffs on American products. Isn't that bad for China? If China puts higher tariffs on American products than we put on theirs, aren't we "winning?"

Maybe instead of paying subsidies to farmers, we can just buy their produce and use it like cash. Instead of giving other countries cash or weapons and calling it foreign aid, we can give them soy beans. Let everyone pay their taxes in soy beans instead of cash, that would increase demand and keep the farmer's working and happy.

If the US economy depends on buying cheap stuff from China, then we have a bigger problem than tariffs.

It's like a heroin addict thinking that their biggest problem is being able to afford more heroin.

He's the ultimate internet hero. A morphing sensation! The ability to be anything, at any time, and be the biggest and best. The internet makes all this possible. I'm a business tycoon with my only problem being how to get these amazingly beautiful women to quit throwing themselves at my feet. Sorry, I can't prove it, but since I wrote it on the internet, you know, it's got to be true.

President Donald Trump, having championed one of the larger tax cuts in recent years, has now enacted tariffs equivalent to one of the largest tax increases in decades.

A CNBC analysis of data from the Treasury Department ranks the combined $72 billion in revenue from all the president’s tariffs as one of the biggest tax increases since 1993. In fact, the tariff revenue ranks as the largest increase as a percent of GDP since 1993 when compared with the first year of all the revenue measures enacted since then, according to the data.

Only the revenue raised in the fourth year of the Affordable Care Act is greater, but not by much.

The nonpartisan Tax Foundation estimates all the tariffs enacted by the president, including the latest increase from 10% to 25% on $200 billion on Chinese goods, will raise $72 billion in revenue, equal to 0.34% of U.S. gross domestic product. Revenue raised in the first year of the 1993 budget and reconciliation act equaled 0.36% of GDP.

cnbc
The far left policies of your fearless leader of tax and spend continue unabated. Trump doesn't seem to understand how tariffs work. All the tariffs are another tax you the consumer have to pay. When Trump brags about making $70 billion from China because of tariffs, he is incorrect he is making this money from US business and consumers.

Then buy American, no extra tax from any tariff. I'm also not in the market for a car, so it won't affect me much.

I avoid made in China as much as possible. I always end up saving money by spending a bit more on a better made product. I might spend even 50% more sometimes, but when the products last more than twice as long it's a big saving in the end.

Thank you.

The economy is a very complex mechanism. I am always amazed at how some people tend to try to sum it up based on nothing more than a static 'snapshot' of a very dynamic system. I guess it makes for better ratings...

If someone wants to make some quick $$$, I'd suggest buying up American automakers stock while everyone else is panicking.
