I don't think that anyone is trying to so much as our society is trying to reconcile and make PC our collective views on gender roles and definitions. In an effort to be so open minded, it's become impossible to keep linear or logical. Self destructing if you will.

We're far from the first to define these roles. There are tribes (if asked I'll try to find the specific ones) that put their children through initiations. Many are brutal when viewed through our lens, and if the children don't complete the rituals, they are not allowed to operate in their society to the tune of the genetic gender role. I remember one specific example if the boys do not complete, they must live life dressed and viewed as a woman.

We have seen "civilized" cultures also redefine what is viewed as acceptable.

I just brush it off. I'm confident in my masculinity, and I rarely try to act macho. I find that's the true source of my connection to being male.

What people say doesn't really effect me. Because at the end of the day, there's nothing someone could say that a pint of Ben and Jerry's, a nice pink wine spritzer, and a bath bombed candle lit soak can't rinse away.

Yea it a very twisted concept these days, even when the gays even complain about it. My second cousin is gay, and is very masculine to the point I feel like a female reproductive organ compared to him
