The last I heard, the official expected cost was $25 billion for the entire wall, which includes sections that already have a barrier and sections that require no construction. That is the budget I am looking at. By your own calculations, 1000 miles of border wall would be $15.84 billion.

If Trump made some wild guesses about the cost before all the prices were in, whoopdie-da-do. You've never started to do something and then found out it cost a little more than you thought at first?

I consider that an acceptable price for national security. If you do not, I suggest you not support a wall around New Zealand. If that means the construction companies make a profit, so be it... that's why they do what they do. And that profit does not sit in a bank either... it goes to pay employees, pay for new equipment, pay for materials, and expand the company so more people can be hired. We call that "economic stimulation" over here... look it up.

You are so tied up in making sure no one can afford to live that you would literally see others die to prevent it.

I'd never support a wall around New Zealand.

Nor am I trying to make anyone not afford to live. I have nothing to do with it.

But waving the flag harder won't make corruption un-corrupt.

Trump said he was going to "drain the swamp", wouldn't this include the prevention of practices that funnel public money into a few private hands for no good reason? A profitability around 10% would be fair and reasonable.

Normally, in government business, companies tender their offers and the decision is made between the competitors as to which company represents the most value. Although previous experience and technical capability are considerations, cost is usually of primary importance.

Sure, pay them what they are reasonably due, but not one cent more! It is just good governance.

So Mexico isn't paying for the wall.

The government isn't paying for the wall.

Private U.S. citizens are paying for the wall.

And this is winning?
Yes, because these are DONATIONS from people who WANT THE WALL. These are the result of those who want action now and don't feel like waiting for the slow process that bureaucracy is here in the states.

The Government has been allocating money for the wall and private citizens are willingy putting the money forward, not being forced.

However, mad fail on the twist and spin, you know what you were doing.

Then you have the perfect libertarian solution to the border. People who want the wall can pay for it.

Let me know when it's complete...

You know how some people don't want their taxes to pay for useless wars and planned parenthood, food stamps, medicaid/medicare, because it's socialism.

That's the way I feel about the boon doggle wall that won't work.

Let those that want it, pay for it.
