We all know that the United States political system is a mess.

Here is my 2 STEP solution on how to begin fixing it before 2024.

Step 1 ~ ONE TERM ONLY
Step 2 ~ REVOLVING PRESIDENTCY

******************************************

#1 ~ ONE TERM ONLY

No one serves more than ONE term, after which they are out of politics for good.
Their legacy and reputation will depend on how well they do their job during their single term.
They will be in office to support the citizens – not themselves.
One Term means there will be no career politicians.
With ONE EXCEPTION.

President.

A person who serves their one term would be allowed to run for President.

#2 ~ REVOLVING PRESIDENTCY

The President of the United States will serve only One Term.

They will have only One Term to be the best President they can be, which means making as many citizens as possible happy. Not half the population, not just their party, but everyone. One chance to make the country better off than it was when they took office.

#2A ~ EACH TERM WILL HAVE A PRESIDENT FROM A DIFFERENT PARTY.
Whatever party ends their term in the Oval Office when 2024 begins will NOT be allowed to have a candidate run for the office in the upcoming election. Meaning if a Republican President is leaving office in 2024, only a Democratic or Libertarian (Third Party) candidate may run and be in office for the next four years.

#2B ~ ALL VOTERS WILL VOTE FOR A DIFFERENT PARTY EVERY FOUR YEARS.

Meaning all Republicans and Libertarians will vote for who they feel is the BEST Democrat candidate available. And vice versa, depending on which party is leaving the office.

The reasoning here is to bring a centrist viewpoint to the government, instead of the two opposite viewpoints we now have. Instead of the government swaying from far right to far left and back again, in a political civil war. The political system needs to stabilize for the better. Like a good marriage, it will be constant compromise toward middle ground.

In this way all Americans can vote for whom they think is the best person in each party to be President of the United States.

******************************************

If you think I am whacked out – let me know – because this is all just stream of thought coming off the top of my big grey alien cranium.

I welcome all viewpoints on how my system would fail or how it could be made better.

But the BIG QUESTION here is ~ HOW WOULD YOU FIX THE UNITED STATES POLITICAL SYSTEM?

term limits, congress and senate 8 years, same as POTUS.

All financial records be open for the entire term, so nobody can come in with 20K in the bank and exit a millionaire without some knowledge of how it happened.

Insider trading applied to politicians.

Lobbyists would have a season where it is legal to hunt and kill them, with a strict bag limit of 5. I'm thinking the warm months, so we don't interfere with Deer season.

Use verified social media accounts to poll the public about topics and policies they would like to see, since it's the public that these tool bags are supposed to serve.

Remove money from elections. Each candidate is given an amount (all the same) from an election fund and if they are caught with dark money, they are executed in public with the Guillotine. Tickets would be sold to fund the election fund.

Regular people would be allowed to run for office. Even nutters like us.

And free beer. that is all.

1. No private donations. Political dollars are created and can only be earned by doing public service that helps everyone in the town or city. The only people who can spend the money are the people doing the work. Otherwise the parties both have a minimum equal amount to start.

2. All federal elected officials and judges sign a waiver on privacy of banking rights to show they aren't being bribed.

3. Term limits debate.

4. Military action taking longer than 3 days must be approved or reinstated by Congress.

5. The president and high office elected officials are bound to not make speaking tours after office for special interest groups.

6. Powers the presidency has grabbed over the last 5 decades are pealed back and given back to Congress.

7. The supreme court has a way to leverage the cases back to Congress when Congress refuses to debate hard issues. Maybe snap elections can be called if the current house can't serve the public.

Eliminate political parties, ban them forever.

How about stopping legislating from the judges chambers?? Or social engineering from the same source?

Term limits are good, but that will require a Constitutional amendment. Good luck.

Fixing the political arena, here and elsewhere, requires in its simplest form involvement from the citizenry. Y'know, getting off our dead asses, or apathetic asses, and making it work for us...

If making it work requires a gallows tree? Then that's what it'll take.

Actually, the fix is alread being put in place. More states are voting to end run the Electoral College. As that progresses, the US will ultimately be a One Party nation, with the Democrats from the big cites in firm control of the White House forever. Their taking the House should follow after that and that will only leave a contested Senate. But if they can re-district the remant of Republicans, that problem should disappear.

With One Party rule, the only elections that will matter are the Primaries. Politics will, for all practical purposes be pretty pointless. It will be a situation like China or the old USSR where you will have THE Party of Governance and it will be the only one that matters.

Life will be a lot simpler although, it will make life more difficult for MSM like CNN because no one will be interested in daily politics anymore. There wont be much left to talk about, really.

Problem solved.

End the Federal Reserve Bank.

When bankers can print money out of thin air they buy governments, laws, and courts. They put the citizens in debt slavery to finance wars to acquire the resources of other countries.

Debt based fiat currency it the cancer that is destroying the humanity in humans.

I think we should leave it up to AI, no votes for humans

We're too "emotionalble", deceitful, and self centered.

They hooked a huge leaf blower up to it and are showering the gdp like a hip hop video.

Pretty sure they can't even find the switch anymore.

We have reached a new state where we have record expansion and record yearly debt at the same time. I wish you could color the money to show people the relationship with getting to spend money you don't have and monthly sales reports.

Senators can serve two six year terms. Congress can serve three 2 year terms.

Voter ID. No ID, no vote.

Voter Test. Must pass simple civics test to prove competency to vote. The same test we currently give immigrants who become US citizens.

Full Disclosure. Full disclosure of tax returns and financial interest.

No Lobbying. No lobbying or being employed by lobbyist for 10 years after serving in office.

Part-Time Legislation: Congress/Senate should only be in session once per quarter. The job should be no different than serving on a f500 board with quarterly meetings.

Congress / Senate: Can only use the same benefits / regulations as the public. For example, healthcare can't be any different from any other federal employee.

No Pork or earmarks: All legislation should only contain one topic / subject. If the bill cannot be written in 20 pages or less then it should not be allowed.

Public Viewing: All legislation must be made available to public at least ONE MONTH prior to final vote. No changes or amendments allowed after public viewing.

Balanced Budget: Budget must be balanced annually. If not, then congress and senate are not paid until budget is balanced.

Spending: Revenue/Taxes cannot be allocated from other areas.

Taxing: Any new tax must be balacned with the elimination of another tax.

Regulations: Any new regulation must be accompanied by removal of at least two old regulations.

Sunset Provisions: ALL Regulations and Taxes must be evaluated at least every five years and then put up to a vote on whether to keep or amend said regulation.

All I can think of right now...

Forgot: NO GERRYMANDERING.

There's nothing wrong with the political process, there's a problem with voters. Lazy voters. Every member of Congress comes up for reelection. The lazy, yet quite willing to complain voter reelects said Rep or Sen. Or worse yet, doesn't vote at all.

And it doesn't mean you have to GASP! vote for the other side, either. Vote for a different rep or dem in your primaries. There's no shortage of same party challengers in these congressional races.

Easier to cry out for term limits that are never coming. Way less work for the voter. Hell, if there were an actual way to vote on such a change, and that vote fell during a mid-term election, voter turn out would still be 12%....

The political system is fine. What needs to be done is remove the "administrative state", the large, mostly arbitrary bureaucracy that has existed since the new deal and beyond.

The confederate states had the presidency as a one- 6 year term

When you vote, you also pay your federal taxes. If you don't pay any taxes, you don't get to vote.

People will care where their money is going

Plus the politicians would pander and look out for the people that pay taxes, since the majority of the voters would be middle class, that's who the politicians would look out for

You are saying only two parties when part of the problem is only two parties, only two platforms and only two choices.

I'd say make it so all state's must allow an Independent candidate on it's ballot.

One term in office is not enough. I'm with you in spirit, but I'd say that limiting all offices to two terms is a more reasonable idea. Change both the Senate and House terms to 4 years and limit them to two just like the Presidency is now.

Limit campaigning to one year only. Any campaigning other than in that year would automatically disqualify the candidate for a second term. Any campaigning in the House or Senate during debates or hearings would disqualify the candidate for a second term.

Remove protections allowing office holders to engage in lies and propaganda on the floor of the House and Senate. You lie to the American public, you are done. You leak to the Press, you are done. If anyone working under you leaks you pay the price and the appointee or employee of any agency is fired on the spot and forever banned from holding any job or position in the government, both state and federal for your entire life.

Remove money from running for office entirely. All candidates get mandated free time on the airwaves, since We The People own them. It would be part of the licensing requirement for all Cable or Broadcast channels. All candidates get equal airtime. All other costs would be covered by taxpayers with equal access to all candidates. No candidate can use any part of the campaign funds for personal use. You run, you cover your own personal costs. If you can't, no way are you successful enough to run anyway.

All candidates must participate in a series of debates with all questions coming from voters instead of paid political trolls working for the media. Reporters only involvement would be to report without commentary. Commentary would be limited to after or before debates, but not during. Side stepping questions or not answering them would disqualify a candidate.

Going after another candidates spouse, children, grandchildren or families would automatically disqualify you from holding office forever. Candidates are fair game but only candidates.

Interfering with campaign related events should be a felony with mandatory jail time. You block access to a campaign event, you got to jail for a year. You crash an event and cause trouble to disrupt it, you go to jail for a year. Elections are too important to allow that nonsense to continue.

For starters

ETA: No ID, you do not vote. No registration needed, you just need to prove who you are to vote.
