I think the book is fitting for the time.

I also think OP was written from a place of frustration. As a nation we many problems we could address if we weren't playing the role of HOA enforcement on the geopolitical neighborhood. Instead we let our house deteriorate while we point out the flaws in others.

All in all, it's a rant is it not? It's coming from what I can gather a genuine feeling of frustration.
