I was just scrolling throught the topics of UFOs and aliens and an ad caught my site, this add featured a two legged alien thing with an old flight helmet on, and between its legs, there for the world to see, was its penis, it did not have testicles, this troubles me as this is suppose to be a multiple-age friendly site.
I'm also wondering how many of you have seen this ad if you have at all.

I suggest an immediate course of action be taken to stop this ad from apearing on ATS or any pf the afiliate web-sites.

Said ad was on the right side ad panel.

I saw this stupid ad last night, but after complaining about the roaches and the micheal jackson vote ad, I didn't want to come off as, well you know-
The ad does not belong on this site and clearly shows an alien with a large penis, gross and stupid is what it is.

Perhaps, being an alien and all, it is not the same anatomically as a human. Perhaps that is his nose, I don't see one on its face. Get your mind out of the gutter.

A drawing that depicted an alien with a penis, and that's a problem?

Last time I checked, all male children have penises, and are probably quite familiar with the location and purpose of said organ. Fetuses masturbate, so maybe you should spend less time trying to shelter children from sex, and more time trying to shelter them from violence.

That's just my, you know, sensible opinion.

O.K then how do they reproduce? if aliens didnt have genitals then all topics about Aliens would be focused on the singular word Alien

It just does not go with the content of this site. If I wanted to see alien penis, I'd go to an alien sex site, not ATS. Poor taste- bad advertising. Inappropiate for this unique site.

Lots of people think aliens reproduce asexually, using gene manipulation technology and what not. Amoebas reproduce without genitals. Women who have lost their ability to bear children can still have a baby of their own flesh and blood, grown in another woman's womb. Maybe that's why aliens abduct us?

Journey
I know you're all hot and bothered about seeing the penis, or the possibility that someone else might see the penis, a child especially, but I think some perspective would do you good.

If you're going to be offended about something, wouldn't it behoove you to get offended about something unnatural or violent or dangerous? I mean, protest war, or DU, or murder, or blood drinking, but sex?

If human society shed some taboos, the world would be a much more relaxed, clear thinking place. All those angry mothers who protested Ozzie, and ICP, and 2 Live Crew; they drove sales up across the board and contributed more to the success of their 'enemy' than they'd like to admit. I assume you're one of those same angry mothers, and my advice to you is to seek perspective. There is a war on, we're slaughtering innocents by the dozens on a daily basis, and the drug war claims more lives in a day than the war on terror does in a month, but you're offended by a handful of pixels?

People, if you wish to discuss if and how extra-terrestrials reproduce, than go start a thread in the Aliens&UFOs section.

Get your mind out of the gutter.

My mind is not in the gutter, and I do not find that funny.

This kind of content has no place on our humble website.

I am interested to know what administrative actions are to be taken.

When Rainier transforms your part of the country into a rapidly cooling pumice parking lot, when the earth wipes a few states off the map and into the ocean, will you feel silly that you spent your last moments trying to dictate the advertising content of this site?

You said "this kind of content has no place on our humble website." Last I checked, it's not 'our' website, it's the property of Simon Gray, to do with as he pleases.

Leave it be. If you are so offended you can't imagine spending another minute here, then U2U Simon and tell him your feelings, tell him he's about to lose a loyal member of the community because of a banner in bad taste. Assuming he doesn't outright laugh at you, I'm sure he'll sympathize, but I doubt he'll get rid of his advertisers because of your fickle sensibilities.

So far I see 2 people upset about this. Even if this was a democracy, which it isn't, 2 is not a sufficient majority to do anything.

WyrdeOne, you got me figured all wrong- first, I am a he. Second, I do not find sex offensive at all. Third, this site does not allow members to show sexually graphic/offensive avatars, so why should advertisers be able to target young people, with an ad that does not go along with the general direction of this unique, and clean, site.
I have a 14 yr old daughter, and I would not want her seeing that- even though I know sex is everywhere, and always will be. Do you see what a stupid ad like that does, and what it is designed to invoke? Listen to us adults here talking about it- what is a young impressionable mind thinking when they read/see that? Would you want your young child wondering about alien sexual organs? wow...
And, did I say that I was offended? No, I did not. I just stated that it did not go with the content of this site.
And last, you tell me to get some perspective...jeez man, get real. Isn't the ad depicting something(your word) "unnatural"? Really man...seek some of your own advise.

Edit to add one more statement- Being a prior US Army soldier- I can tell you all about war. And, I was in chemical and biological warfare. I know all about death and destruction.

Sorry for making assumptions. Mea culpa. I see your point about avatars and the direction of the site, but I just can't get too upset about it. I think the key word you used is graphic, rather than offensive. Some people are offended by blacks, that doesn't mean we should go along with their wishes for genocide. Graphic the ad was not. We're talking about a dozen or so pixels here, not a full color spread from a spank mag.

No, frankly, I don't see what the ad does. It was designed to invoke humor, a little chuckle, I'm fairly sure of that. Obviously there are a couple of people who didn't receive the ad well, and I'd say that doesn't bode well for the advertiser. They, in the end, will be the ones to pay for their faux pas. Why don't you contact them and tell them your feelings?

What I want is irrelevant, children will wonder about whatever children will wonder about - regardless of your best efforts to restrict their frame of reference. I spent the years of my youth wondering about all kinds of bizzare things, and I'd say I'm a better person for it. Children have a natural curiosity that is designed to prepare them for a dangerous, though often amusing, world. Parents who blunt their children's survival instincts by pretending the world is rose coloured, do a great disservice to future generations.

It's not up to your or I to decide that. The internet is no different than television, if you don't like what's on, change the channel.

Don't misunderstand, you're entitled to your opinions. The internet is our common space, and should represent our common values, I agree. But in the end, like I said, it's not our decision to make what advertisers are permitted to use this site to sell their services. The content of this site is dictated by the owner of this site, as it should be in a benevolent dictatorship.

Also, a final point to consider, ATS donates a great deal of money to literacy programs. All of that money comes from advertising. If that little alien penis can teach a kid to read, and keep them out of prison, and get them a job besides flipping patties, I say bring on the penis!

You are beating a dead horse, brother. I bet the ad has already been dumped. And, I am not upset or ranting. I simply made an observation concerning an offensive and inappropiate ad for the general mission of this site. If the owners of this site need funds, he knows all he has to do is ask the members. With change comes situations that many will not like- it is quite possible that Admin has not even seen the ad. Have you? A member would be warned, if not banned, for using an image as such. Enough of this, I have made my point. This site is truly unique, and one reason I hang here is because it is clean and not full of sexual suggestion and pornography. And I am sure the majority of other members feel as I do. Peace-

Well, I didn't see the ad, but I must say, considering the fact that a members Avatar of a standing squirrel has its genitals censored (due to official objections), then certainly this would/should be an issue. If a squirrel has to be censored, why should the aliens get away with it?

I think the Ad companys are starting to use dirty tactics. The Ads the pay out alot or are easy to "find/hire" seem to be selling things to ignorant people who will click at any thing that moves, flashs or seems sexual. They are becoming sneaky with the programs they load for determining "pay-out". Your perspective changes when you get a mutating spy/malware named VX2 and learn that morality is degrading and people seem to like spreading it!

ATS should make their own ADs for ATS stuff!
If the Ad was for a pill (could be named "Thor" for fun), then I say, get rid of that company. I wonder when Ads will promote revenge, torture and death.

OMG!
I long ago tuned them out of my visual receptors....they dont even register to my brain.

the only time i notice the ads on ats is before i log in and a popup one appears, it doesnt get to live on my screen longer than my brain tells mouse hand to cllick X.

I bummed i missed seing extra-galatic sexual reproduction glands tho....

Simply by description of the ad alone, it's impossible to disable it. There are over 200 advertisers that may appear on ATS through the 3 networks we're using. If you can tell me the specific advertiser, I'll disable the ad (as I've said over, and over, and over again).
