Really is this the smoking gun that's gonna bring down Donald Trump, a bank loan? wouldn't the bank have to file a complaint? of course probably not because they wanted to loan the funds and it's being paid back, On time and schedule. If he was in default might be a different story.

Trump, as expected, has appealed.

JUST IN: Trump has formally appealed the ruling requiring his accounting firm to turn over his personal financial records to the House.

It’s unclear if an appeal will ever come to fruition though. If Mazars complies with the subpoena, the process is moot. There is a tantalizing chance though that the case ends up before Merrick Garland on appeal.

This thread is a hoot, so much hypocrisy going on..

The precedents being set daily will haunt the Democrats for years, just look at the Meuller report, the Dems made the rules, then broke them. Seems they like to do this often, make rules against the Republicans then break them when it's on them.

Of course the usual dribbles from the lofty left dirigibles, such short sighted folks

and Hi to my fellow Michiganders

this will be a fun year, 2019 will live in infamy

I spent many years of my life designing homes for people. I could tell you some stories! Not all of them worked, but I have seen some pretty crazy things done to property that, to everyone's amazement, caused it to increase dramatically in value.

And, if you think about it... the risk-takers are the reason we have trends. Most builders are fairly conservative... they don't make homes that have high risk attributes, because they don't want to lose money. But then you have homeowners who will take those high risks (usually because they just want a certain look or function) and will be rewarded handsomely for it. Once that happens, builders will start incorporating that into new homes.

Trump, as expected, has appealed.

As I said, he'll lose the appeal. Then he'll take it to the Supreme Court and likely lose there. He needs to get to the Supreme Court, to make sure the decision, which ever way it goes, is not overturned later.

If he loses at the Supreme Court, his accounting records will be unsealed and turned over to Congress for investigation. They'll find nothing that will stick. Remember when Rachal Maddow got hold of some of Trump's old tax returns? It will be funny, though... I'd bet none of the present members of Congress will even understand how to read them. I doubt I would.

Then, using that same precedent, Barr will have access to the financial records of every Congressman. Let the good times roll!

So either Trump loses this battle and wins the war, or Trump wins this battle and the war rages on. Either way, it's a no-lose situation for him and a no-win situation for the House Judiciary Committee.

It's all a joke, and a perpetual political smear campaign. It is domestic political warfare.

Propaganda was illegal to use against Americans, until Obuma reversed it with a little help from left.

Donald Trump as an individual, is constantly under audit by the IRS, since his bankruptcy claims. Tell me how the politicans and the politically appointed feds requesting his tax information, are going to find more to hang him by than professional IRS agents?

They aren't, and that's not the objective either.

The constant lible, discrediting, slander and other shoveled bull # is just a distraction from the lefts own real crimes.

When has any one, been this persecuted?

How come all of a sudden the left is this obsessed? To the point of doubling down on going full retarded time and time again.

It's because they know everything they hoped to achieve is falling apart. They thought the socialist agenda had a shoe in after the Obuma admin forced it down everyones throat.

Along with believing their own blatantly obvious bull#, they decided to ignore all facts. Induced self ignorance can't be reasoned with.

The people whom are soley focused in destroying American tradition, culture and "Individual Liberty" as we have once known it, won't stop at Donald Trump if they are allowed to continue unchecked.

I'm not saying people who think they want that can't have it, I'm saying they ain't changing 241 years of experience. As a Nation the USofA has proven to be the last bastion of Freedom this world has. Lose freedom here, there will be no place left to run to.

People aren't fleeing oppression to another tyranny, they flee to America because they know it's still a free Country. If America was so horrible wtf are people coming here? It's not all freebies...

However if the majority stand idle and silently by as the future once secured slips away. We have no one to blame then, other than ourselves.

Never forget, those who knew, tried.

A child could have decided this. Congress has a right to investigate the president. THAT’S THEIR JOB.

If there is a legitimate reason, sure.

And although there was no legitimate reason, they did it anyway, for 2+ years. The result is typically called 'The Mueller Report'. Maybe you heard of it.

The people balking are hypocrites of immense proportions. Imagine Obama or Hillary trying to impede a legitimate congressional investigation how they would be howling like pigs—coverup.

Keyword is 'legitimate'.

Nothing legitimate about what the House is doing now. IT IS OVER. TDS sufferers lost. Get over it.

Trump will lose this handily. Only a corrupt SCOTUS would allow Trump to avoid what's in the constitution.

Oh, ok, by all means, point to the section that Congress can go on witchhunts on anyone they like for any reason or no reason at all.

I won't hold my breath.

Isn't he accused of bank fraud by inflating the value of his assets in order to obtain loans secured against them? And how does one provide proof one way or the other without conducting an investigation to obtain evidence that will prove or disprove those allegations?

And what precisely is the legislative purpose of Congress' pursuit of this inquiry?

I'll answer for you - there is none.

You know you're wasting keystrokes (like I do too, lol). He'll never 'get it.' To put it into terms even a child can understand...

Imagine Trump as the guy who just moved into the neighborhood. Imagine the Congress as the police (investigators) and Mueller as a private eye. The Constitution tells the cops, "You keep an eye on the new guy and speak up if he does anything wrong."

So the cops hire the private eye. While he is investigating, the cops are still watching the guy. If he walks out to get a newspaper off his sidewalk, they send in surveillance because they claim he is stealing newspapers. If he is seen making a cup of coffee through his window, they assume he is making meth. If they catch him smoking a cigarette, they assume he's doing drugs. Every time he gets in his car, they run the plates to see if it is stolen. If he mows his yard, they figure he's going to get into his neighbor's yard and cut down her flower bed. They also check on every person who ever comes to his front door. If he needs a plumber, that plumber is then investigated, and one gets caught for using substandard pipes. The electrician he called in to make repairs is eventually caught using the wrong size wire in another house. His friend comes over for a visit, and a month later is in jail for cheating on his taxes.

Then the private eye reports back. He can't find clear evidence of anything, but the guy sure acts like he's worried about something (of course he is, because anyone who comes to his door is being targeted). So now the cops start rifling through his trash. They find nothing, really, except a couple of copies of old NRA magazines. But that's enough... he is obviously selling guns on the black market! Why else would he have those magazines? Now the cops sneak into his house while he's gone and look around for more stuff he might be doing wrong. He comes home and finds his place ransacked, so he goes to the cops to make a complaint, and the cops want to know what he's hiding.

That is what is happening, and every bit of it is illegal. And worse, some of the people, including the poster you replied to, are actually cheering on the cops and hoping they'll just break down his door and arrest him in the middle of the night for... something...

I think every single congressman and senator should have their taxes made public. I bet we'd find some really interesting stuff with Pelosi, Schumer, as well as a bunch of others (Rep and Dem).

You need to get out more, especially Europe where Christian morality isn't constantly being shoved down your throat ala blue laws and no smoking signs everywhere, and jail time if you smoke the wrong weed, etc.

This is why I'm surprised they're willing to try so hard to get Trump's taxes. Look at how many members of Congress were poor working-class shlubs when they got elected, but after a decade or so they've somehow become millionaires. It doesn't take a genius to realize many of them must have illegal income.

He doesn't understand what checks and balances are. He thinks somehow investigating the executive before he became the executive is a check.

Will, checks and balances are the ability of each branch to overrule or control the others in certain areas. The executive appoints judges, directly influencing the judiciary. The legislature can write laws should it not like the actions taken by the executive or legislative branch. The executive can veto that legislation.

Those are checks and balances. If you believe a check is congress investigating the executive, then who investigates congress? How about judges?

Congress could use a corruption purge. Bring it all into the light and burn them at the stake if they're guilty.
