The point is that George subverts the normal narrative stereotypes.. well to do that you must set the scene as if the normal tropes will continue.. then you flip it..


The beautiful dragon queen who frees the slaves is really the big bad all along..

The ugly hound starts off appearing to be the big bass main muscle, but is really a hero..

Your analysis source is forgetting by the end all those tropes have been upended
