Yes, if someone has bad intentions, obtaining a gun is relatively easy. Just look at Adam Lanza.

Was a good back and forth, even if neither of us changed our minds. Peace

I've been on this site longer than you. The evolution of my personality from late teens to early 30s is on full display for everyone to see.

But go ahead and try to brush me off without actually responding to my comment.

I do not care how long you have been on this site.

After Florida weren't we told that kids of this age are not mature enough to have an opinion on this topic?

By the way, aren't you politicizing their actions with this post?

And you are politicizing this topic by whining about the thread. but hey, we know authoritarians love it when atrocities like this one are used for your gun grabbing agenda and you hate it when kids don't side with your plans...

Yes, your agenda not only is silly but authoritarian... But hey, what do I know, leftwingers disarmed the Cuban populace and now the only ones with guns are the commies and the criminals working for the commies... But hey this cannot happen this time around right?... So thought Venezuelans... Or better ask Mexicans if they would like to be armed to fight off the drug cartels and gangs that kidnap regular people... The Mexican government hides these "statistics" like they tried to do when gangs started kidnapping Mexican women almost as a daily occurrence and the authorities just claimed "this is not happening in Mexico..."

You have got to wonder. Back in the 90s we didn't see these mass shootings and there were as many or even more people armed than now, so something else is the cause of these mass shootings and guns are simply used by these criminals. But we know there are no crazy left-wingers who even admit that part of their plan is to use guns so they are banned right?... Oh yeah, the latest murderer who admitted the closest political party to his own political views is the Communist Party of China and he did want guns banned, like it happened in New Zealand, to start a major conflict to help save the Earth from over population...

"Mental health" is right. Don't ban guns, ban people who are unstable enough to go on shooting rampages if they go off their meds from being among the population.

Instead, we one-size-fits-all medicate and act surprised when the truly insane do insane things.

you say rare, yet 2018 had the most deaths within schools in the USA

its your country, my own country does not have guns since we had our last school shooting waaaaaaaaay back in 1996, we banned handguns, do I miss the days of owning a gun, nope, has my freedom been changed, nope, do I feel less safe, nope, do I feel more safe, YES

How many American children, future scientists, leaders, scholars, musicians or sport stars, or just a good husband/wife for someone been lost since 1996 to gun murder

I always say to myself dont get involved in gun threads, Americans and guns go together like

Enjoy your freedom, feel safer with that revolver in your pocket

Police and border officials are struggling to stop a rising supply of illegal firearms being smuggled into Britain, a senior police chief has warned.

Chief constable Andy Cooke, the national police lead for serious and organised crime, said law enforcement had seen an increased supply of guns over the past year, and feared that it would continue in 2019.

The Guardian has learned that the situation is so serious that the National Crime Agency has taken the rare step of using its legal powers to direct every single police force to step up the fight against illegal guns.

Another senior law enforcement official said that “new and clean” weapons were now being used in the majority of shootings, as opposed to guns once being so difficult to obtain that they would be “rented out” to be used in multiple crimes.

Cooke, the Merseyside chief constable, told the Guardian: “We in law enforcement expect the rise in new firearms to continue. We are doing all we can. We are not in a position to stop it anytime soon.

Those guns are going somewhere.

Do you still feel "Safe"?

I think it's time for you to step down from your rather high horse and quit preaching to Americans about how uncivilized they are.

You sir are a hypocrite.

Thanks for bringing this to to the fore.

This single item, which the globalist media will ignore,
if not bury through editorial censoring,
is the single most inspiring news item I have read in years.

Years.

You see, theses kids are the future.

They will not be outshouted by the Hoggs usurping their voice,
squealing them into submission,
as a world government crouches in the wings,
right behind the pop tarts
and heavily armed,
so very heavily armed,
waiting for it’s totalitarian debut.

Firearms are an absolute requirement to preserve Western Civilization.

We could not have won our independence from Britain without firearms in the hands of citizens. Without a strong and independent America, what kind of world would we be living in today? How do you think the UK would be faring now if the USA had never existed?

It’s no coincidence that the right to bear arms was the 2nd Amendment to our constitution, second only to the right of free speech. Thanks to the 2nd Amendment we will never be controlled by tyrants again, including any would be homegrown despots. It’s impossible because we’re armed to the teeth like no other people in the world. Even the U.S. armed forces — the most powerful and capable in world history — couldn’t conquer the American people without resorting to nukes, which would be
the ultimate Pyrrhic victory.

Tens of millions of firearms were needed to defeat Nazi Germany, Imperial Japan and fascist Italy. The USA needed millions to prevent the Soviet Union from conquering Western Europe; ditto to prevent China from overrunning the Far East. As a matter of fact, they’re still needed to hold back China. What did Mao say? Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun.

Civilization must have firearms, because evil people and regimes have them and are willing to use them.

Maybe he did. I can definitely see your passive aggressive BS letting the OP know your stance. Finally young people with brains have spoken. The kids in Florida are a bunch of spoon fed little regurgitates. They are not deep thinking critical thinkers. The Colorado kids see the citizens of Venezuela being bullied by one of YOUR socialist agitators. Please spare us your high and mighty self anointing superior intellect.

The difference?

The kids in Colorado were not seeking a national platform. They just wanted to remember and mourn their own. Instead they got politicians and a message by people standing on the body of their dead classmate. So they walked away as they had every right to do, especially when they were not allowed to speak themselves.

The kids in Parkland played along and went on a national speaking tour and grabbed the spotlight along with the politicians by speaking the right message.

One should definitely need id to vote, you won't find me arguing that.

The gun laws vary from state to state right? gun shows?

Here, it's easy to buy a rifle or shotgun as long as you have passed a common sense safety course, and pass the police record check, there are no open carries of concealed carries whatsoever, and weapons must be properly stored and unloaded.
There aren't guns under peoples pillows, in night tables, glove boxes, parents dresser drawers..etc
Do you understand my point? about easy access.

A fraction of a fraction of a percent of guns used in crimes come from gun shows. It's a non-issue. The most common way criminals get their guns is through straw purchases, which are already illegal. You can raise the age to 21 for all guns, you can require more extensive background checks, none of that will stop straw purchases. The only way to deter them is to make the penalties harsher, something the "evil" NRA supports, or to start banning guns outright. Good luck with that.

Voting age and gun purchase age should be the same, so 18 for both or 21 for both.

I am all for people who improperly store weapons being charged for crimes those weapons are used in.

Most gun owners are, despite the media narrative that we're all wackos. Whenever I see an incident where a child got a gun and shot himself or someone else, on accident or on purpose, it's grounds for serious charges imo. Many of these shootings are the result of things that cannot be legislated away. The Newtown shooter, for example, was mentally ill but he just stole the guns from his mother. The Parkland shooter never should've been able to pass a background check, but because of the incompetence of local officials none of his offenses were in NICS to flag him. He also used 10-round magazines and reloaded more than a dozen times, so all the magazine limits the gun control nuts get hard over would have done nothing. Most of their quick fix solutions would do nothing. That's what happens when you get people who know next to nothing about the subject matter get a national platform to spew their uninformed opinions.

This would be rough for me because I think voting age needs to be raised to 25.

This is true actually. Surveys have shown less support for gun control among these younger generations than we've seen among millennials, on some issues. These younger kids aren't as dumb as we were. The media narrative about these kids all being David Hoggs is simply wrong.

See here.

Believe what you want. I am sure they may believe differently. Gun control is more dangerous to human life than controlling it. If this country did not play patty cake with criminals and executed them in a timely fashion gun control would not even be a topic.

I think these kids were not susceptible to the leftist emotional hook. Like one of your famous Communist Bolshevik idiots Rham Emanuel who once said " never let a serious crisis go to waste." I give these kids more credit than just wanting a moment of silence. And for the record it is the left who pounces on every incident for political purposes not conservatives. I do admit we point out the disgusting double standards though.
