His daddy was in the same business and he didn't lose money. As a matter of fact his daddy continued to fund the money losing donald until his death.
This is trumps talking point but the documents show this is not real estate write offs. Its poor management of hotels and casinos and golf resorts and retail space in buildings.

Who has been funding the money losing fool since his daddy died?

Some dude in eastern europe?

Trump didn't lose money because of the real estate market.
Article in the OP:

The numbers show that in 1985, Mr. Trump reported losses of $46.1 million from his core businesses — largely casinos, hotels and retail space in apartment buildings. They continued to lose money every year, totaling $1.17 billion in losses for the decade.

Depreciation.

They stopped lending him money a while back.
Hence the relationship with foreign banks like Deutsche Bank.

F.B.I. Sent Investigator Posing as Assistant to Meet With Trump Aide in 2016

The woman had set up the meeting to discuss foreign policy issues. But she was actually a government investigator posing as a research assistant, according to people familiar with the operation. The F.B.I. sent her to London as part of the counterintelligence inquiry opened that summer to better understand the Trump campaign’s links to Russia.

commonly known as a set up

No do explain how missing shots in a basketball game is the same as defaulting on loan repayments .

Is it?

Is it really?

I'm still waiting for Trump to show his true colours but it's seriously starting to look like after all this dirt digging, there is no dirt left to dig...

Any thoughts on that Silly?

It's actually a very good metaphor.

Sponsors invest money to make a return.

Is he still worth billions today? If he lost a trillion dollars in the 80s, but over came it and was still worth 6 billion today, once again how is that any different than picking a choosing what you want to measure to promote your narrative? My narrative is Kobe was the worst player in history even though he might have been the best. The narrative on Trump is he lost a billion in the 80s even though he is still a multi billionaire today...

Understand now?

I get that, I don't understand how missing hoops is the same as losing money and ripping heaps of people off in the process.

The whole apples and oranges thing.

Most big businesses do fail from time to time. GM, the banking industry, Solyndra, the Silicon Valley startup that collapsed, leaving taxpayers liable for $535 million in federal guarantees etc etc to name just a few. Tax payer dollars were used to settle their debts with no payback to the American people.

Trump's greatest success was building a name. He promotes himself very well and was, in truth, always a mediocre businessman.

He found his calling though. A politician is all about building a name.

Warren Buffett's Failures

*shrug*

Looks like people lose and gain money all the time.

This is not a reliable barometer for how savvy either one is in their respective ventures.
