Star Wars was just a movie and Chewbacca was just a character but the enjoyment and at times heart felt laughter was real. One of the original key actors, Peter Mayhew has passed away.. Chewbacca will live on but for Peter may he rest in peace.

Peter Mayhew, the man who played Han Solo's Wookiee sidekick Chewbacca in the Star Wars films, has died aged 74.
The actor's family announced on social media that the English-American actor had died on April 30, surrounded by family in his North Texas home.

Chewbacca's voice was created by the original films' sound designer, Ben Burtt, from recordings of walruses, lions, camels, bears, rabbits, tigers, and badgers in Burtt's personal menagerie. The individual recordings were mixed at different ratios for Chewbacca's different utterances.

Language. The Wookiee language is Shyriiwook. Wookiees are capable of understanding Galactic Basic, but generally none are able to speak it because of the structure of Wookiee vocal cords. In the original Star Wars trilogy, it seems that Chewbacca can understand humans.

Wookiees (/ˈwʊkiːz/) are fictional hirsute humanoids in the Star Wars universe. They come from the planet Kashyyyk and are taller and stronger than most humans. The most prominent Wookiee is Chewbacca, copilot of the Millennium Falcon alongside Han Solo.

😎

Some scholars claim evidence exists that Earth Denisova hominins evolved from wayward Wookie descendants.

Gutted, he really liked to connect with the fans, he often took part in redit threads and was never above sending out fans a kind tweet. Heard him being interviewed a few times, seemed like a true gent.
