How many times have you seen a thread start with "Well, if this is true, it will be terrible!" or "This sounds a little fishy but I'll post it anyway?"

I've seen it quite a few times.

And every time I think to myself... if you - the poster - don't trust the source at all, and you don't believe that what you're posting can truly be said to have happened... why are you posting it?

If you have to say 'well, if this turns out true' just assume it is not true, and do yourself and all of us a favor and don't post it.

People seem to be so after Likes and Stars and Flags and whatever dopamine rush they're addicted to, that they are knowingly posting crap. And admit to it. And at the same time give clicks and funding to whatever crap source they just enabled to operate for another month or two.

This is not helping this website with the quality of content... at all. And it seems to just encourage others to take it down a step each time. I know I'm a nobody here, but I'd really encourage those that read this rant - if you're in doubt if what you're posting is true or not, and it can't be easily verified by other sources - just don't post it.

Make ATS great again!

At the same time, if I am posting something like Doom Porn, there's no chance that I think it's at all likely, but oh ... that speculation and the mindgame exercise that comes with it sure is fun!

So, yeah, that thread does open with something like "If this is true ..." but no one should ever take it super seriously. Not Doom Porn.

Because it's a conspiracy website.

So we are here to talk about the grey areas, the what ifs, the fishy stuff.

Knock it around in our noggins, post an opinion, weigh out the possibilities.

The interesting parts of our world are never actually black and white... and the subjects here are lots of shades in between.

So if you don't like talking about conspiracies on a conspiracy website, why are you here?

I’ve got a different view.

Threads like those can be considered spitballing or thinking out loud.

Which enlist’s a group to figure out if the ideas have merit or not . When people work to a shared goal with their own individual reasoning . You can see a lot more than you would on your own .

It’s kind of like a conspiracy workshop .

When people work together on issues you generally get a hell of a lot more accomplished .

“There are no stupid questions except the one you didn’t ask “

I guess to sum it up. People should overlook their pet peeves in the quest for knowledge .

I like the speculative threads.

There are tons of ideas I am open to discussing that I don’t believe...yet. You can’t kearn from things you have already decided are true.

Why not just say, “Crazy [insert the name of the political party that you hate... and let’s be honest, they hate a group name and think anybody who even thinks thoughts that are similar are “the enemy” and need as much ridicule as they can think up).

That is both “sides”.

You are being diverted from reality by these bastids and don’t even know it!

Go back to 80’s punk and then say that I am wrong!!

That is why “politics” is a worthless endeavor.

And that is coming from a middle aged man who still believes we as a society can be better.

Yeah, the hippie runs deep...

Every source has its opponents. Guess that means we need to shut the place down.

Thanks for attempting to do my thinking for me. You've saved me loads of time.

Some of what I post does not match consensus of the time, but usually it does get verified as real. After all, I do lots of research and verify if something is relevant or probably a lot of times. But if society does not accept it then I know I will be ignored and sometimes further testing is done that shows my conclusions are only partially right.

But I will post it here in hopes others will also research and maybe help me to expand my knowledge and give me new incentive to research more to clarify things that do not fit into the picture and I have not considered. The day I quit learning is the day I die, if I get alzheimer disease, then it is not me anymore, it is just a shell that should be put out to pasture

Sometimes you find that what the majority of people believe is true is just a glorified lie we are conditioned to believe is true. That is something I find a lot in our societies.

That is the reality we live in, there is little we can do to change it, and the lie might actually have a hidden reason for being created, a pre-empted way of stopping a catastrophe.

I think of ATS as this generations MAD magazine.
