And what if one does not have the means to "self determine" as you say...

NO way of finding a decent job that pays the bills, or IF they happen to be in a situation where they have to take care of someone that is sick... or are sick themselves

I suppose its just tuff beans?

Did someone tell you life was easy? If so, point them out to me so I can slap the white off their teeth.

Life is hard, life is tough. Life often sucks.

It's always been that way.

Once again, as said on the first page, welfarism, while not a sound political philosophy, is not the same thing as socialism. A government program for the unable is not socialism. Socialism has a specific meaning.

Equating socialism with charity.

Government is not a charity.

“Government is not reason, it is not eloquence, it is force; like fire, a troublesome servant and a fearful master. Never for a moment should it be left to irresponsible action.” -George Washington

Don't care if you were talking to me or not. You're in my thread.

Don't like it, don't post here.

Their you go with your socialist bs accusations again. Honestly you should stay away from your own political nonsensical "news" sites and propaganda because you genuinely sound like a crazed right winger who thinks the lefties are out to get him.

You know nothing about my political beliefs, who I vote for or what I believe in regards of social or economic policies.

So... What's funny about human rights? I guess the civil war in Syria was hilarious too huh? Tiananmen square was just a bunch of triggered loons interested in a easy life?

Most nations go beyond basic human rights and I mention them as a guideline to the conversation, not that you are capable of a conversation.

Please do see you way out.

Why is the conversation not echoey enough for you? I think I'll stick around thanks, I'm curious to see if you've got any more substance to you than bitching and moaning.

I AM one of "those" people.

I'm no tough guy with a food store and weapons for the zombie apocalypse.

I'm old, ill, and won't be around too much longer.

But I'm also a realist and still understand the basic tenets of freedom and individuality.

Then work to raise your own food. Look up homesteading and have at.

Working is for people who don't whine about their lot in life in a first world nation.

I'm not whining you are though.

Waaah waaah! Socialism scaaawy!!!
Waah!

As I said I'm relatively comfortable. Difference between you and me is I have mine and give a damn about others who don't have theirs. You on the other hand? I don't know, you come across a bit looney tbh.

Fair enough...

How are those medical bills workin for ya?

IF you went to school as a young pup, did you pay for it? And IF so how long were you in debt afterwords because of your education?

Have you ever had to choose between feeding yourself and your family or getting treated for said illness?

I speak from my own personal life, the lives of my parents, and I also shared the experience of others. This isn't an academic view, which is the only view you have access to, though it isn't without source or merit.

Socialists are socioeconomic criminals who believe themselves virtuous paragons of justice.

Just look at what you and others here have said to me in response to real experiences. I have to "answer for my ancestors," says one. "It's just a sob story," says another. You people eat this woke garbage up while not caring that British and Canadian companies have helped the communist regime in Cuba steal from their own citizens to turn a profit. This continues to this day.

You don't get to lecture me on # as your own nation helps suck the life out of my people.

Why do other people have to work to provide those people with food because they live in ghettos? Who says they have to live in ghettos?

There are small, dying towns all over the country that could provide homesteading space and yet they don't move there and farm. Why not?

So government assistance or no government assistance?

I'll add that I feel government assistance is very responsible within reason. I've known people who struggled to provide for their family who resorted to crime. Occasionally people in that dilemma kill themselves too.

I find that sickening personally. How do predicaments like that make you feel?

They suck but I'm paying, because it is my responsibility.

IF you went to school as a young pup, did you pay for it? And IF so how long were you in debt afterwords because of your education?

Yeah I went to school, and Uncle Sam paid a part of it because that was the business agreement at the time. I trade my time and efforts for lousy pay and some school taken care of. It was a contract. I fulfilled my part of the contract, the government fulfilled their part.

Have you ever had to choose between feeding yourself and your family or getting treated for said illness?

Yes. And my family got fed because it was MY responsibility. If I had to sacrifice for my family, I did so and would do so again because that's how I was raised.

You're an American, but if you still identify as Cuban I could be a prick and say go back home and clean your own mess up.

I tend to hold myself with a little more respect though. Oh and yeah I alluded to profit driven policies of companies, not so much on nations but I'd agree with you on that... The US doesn't have the greatest foreign policies either but I'm sure it's never exploited Latin American nations in it's past.

At least I got something of substance with this reply, thanks.

How do they get there? Oh I know! Social policy and government assistance?

I'm not interested in free meal tickets thanks but if I have to eat I'll sure as hell take the option to eat ya know? Not that anything is free.

Anyways I'm talking about opportunity, I'd rather people living in poverty stricken situations to have the ability to work their way out of them, it's what most normal people want.

To add I'm unaware of any farmer being forced to give their product away for free in any western nation. Are you aware of any?
