They tried.
They actually have their own governments.
You should read up on it.

So you are saying that the rules and laws of The U.S. do not apply to Naive Americans.

Are you ?

Seems everybody over there talks a good game about "rights" until the big bad govt. shows.

Nobody mentioned 'rights' apart from you.

The last thing the people of Ulster need - across the religious and political divide - is more guns.
Even a basic level knowledge of Irish history would tell you that.

In that one post you displayed complete ignorance of The Troubles, the peace agreement and the great efforts and sacrifices made to maintain that peace.

I don't care about your Second Amendment, your country your business.

You can't even follow through on the vote of the people.

That's more of damning indictment - a justified one - of our politicians and the political system than it is the British people.
I suspect the Brexit farce isn't played out yet.....but that's not the topic under discussion and is one for another time and place.

My first and most dominant thought was "What story was she working on?"
She was assassinated, this riot was organised to bring her out and to cover for the assassination.

The question remains, on who's behalf?

Be interesting to see who she was investigating.

Because if they had rights this crap wouldn't happen.

Pretending it would is lunacy.
Pretending more of the same government can fix it is as well.

Exactly. An innocent act like banging a drum caused so much indignation on ATS. How dare a Native American do that to a white kid.

Do you know how pathetic that sounds ?

You know how pathetic it is that you are spreading a cnn lie?
You know the kid filed suit instead of firebombing right?
You people put the ass in class.

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about, the more you post on this the more your ignorance is revealed for all to see.

This has absolutely nothing to do with The Right to Bear Arms; its about terrorism, extortion, racketeering, centuries held sectarianism, drug dealing etc.

Your insistence on bringing The Second Amendment into anything and everything is really tedious and says far more about you and your mindset than it does anything else.

The native Americans remembered what happenned last time they took a stand... besides that would also require them to put down the booze bottle and leave their cozy casinos

Anyway, back to topic, eh?

The so called "dissident republican" are just criminals. They have taken a leaf from the book of the IRA, who made their way through extortion, donations from Libya et al, criminality and terrorising their own communities (e.g. the "disappeared), as well as donations from Americans, but let's keep quite about that one, eh? The IRA even sought help from the Nazi's, which is a little known fact, but worth the research if you have time.

The so called "dissident republicans", are just a wannabe IRA faction, but have little support, so they pretty much operate as criminal gangs. These groups operate across the island of Ireland. If anything has improved since the IRA were dragged kicking and screaming to the negotiation table is that the Republic no longer tolerates or protects these people.

Full moon mate and a very powerful one caused the madness. Just yesterday driving around cars driving very aggressively, smac k heads in their wheelchairs racing around looking panicked for stuff, the misses rowing with the mother in law over her phones not working at home, misses says that mother in law is (bad at the best of times but yesterday) on full flow, then got back and shut the fridge door a bit too hard for her and doors and got a slap from here. Flippin mental and was glad to get to bed, everyone was losing it and guess it was the same in Ulster too

because " certain elements " of the IRA - insist on continuing to act like savages - so the PSNI continues to conduct security operations - this led to inteligence driven serach warrants of various propertyies [ believe to be used as arms dumps ] - this infuraiated the savages - so they instigated riots .

ETA - my description may be predudiced by personal bias

As a frequent traveller to Northern Ireland I can say that from experience that statement is rubbish.

Also, there are frequently riots in Northern Ireland, stirred up by turf wars and criminality. In this case with an investigative journalist being murdered by dissident republicans, it was probably because she got too close to something.

On Irish unification... Well, consistent polls in Northern Ireland indicate that on both sides of the sectarian divide there is a wish to remain in the UK. Besides, the cost to the Republic of reunification would be crippling, so not sure they want it except as a political goal. With the EU’s centralisation the Republic of Ireland is gradually losing its nation state, so it's all a bit pointless anyway.

Rubbish? Great argument there.

Try visiting Shankhill in Belfast rather than nice tourist places.

Until then, enjoy speaking a lot of rubbish

Becoming more and more common isn't it, weird # like that, with journalists becoming the enemy of both state and dissident.

Ok thanks for the update - do you think its coincidence that it started around the time with the Brexit impasse?

Possibly a trigger event to draw heat away from Whitehall/Parliament?

In other words "see this is what happens if the country is dis-united...then British boots on the ground again?

BBC Documentary 'Stacey Dooley Investigates' looked at paramilitary-style punishment attacks in Belfast. If a teenaged boy joins the wrong gang, his family are likely to kneecap him! Only allow family approved sectarian gangs!

I don't think the recent civilian court cases where British veterans were convicted of murder @ Bloody Sunday have helped. The so called 'New IRA' were wholly pissed off with what they saw as the sell-out old IRA of McGuiness and Adams collaborating with Paisley et al. and have been trying to find a way to bring back the troubles and having open warfare return to Irish streets.

It's not a coincidence imho, but something that was on the cards.

All it takes is a simple spark and that place goes up at the drop of a hat.

As the marching season and the 12 of July, plus Brexit approaches, one can only hope they keep the head and tackle the associated problems in a peaceable manner, then again chance will be a fine thing indeed.

I can see a rather interesting summer in store if truth be told should things continue to go the way they are headed.
