Chinese Air Sentry 2000 AWACS

This has recently been reported by almost every Chinese news source

We have seen it before, just to confirm that it's true






The carrier is IL76
The radar system is somthing newly developed according to the sources.
It does not roate, instead a stationary radar disk constantly scans all direction.

Those things have been flying for about 4 years now... and there have been 3 built for testing.

You sure that the Chinese simply did not buy them from the Russian's?
Looks like one big flying "hit me" target.

No it's an indiginously developed technology after Isreal pulled out of the phalcon deal.

Actually it's supposed to be more advanced than falcon... seeing the Chjnese already has access to the tech and simply improved upon it.

Probably saved them some money after Isreal pulled out as it meant they did not have to pay for the license

Seecerof you mast remmember that only your AWACs was shot down in this world (E2 ) it was war betwen Isral and Sirya, and Russian A 50 flying close to Iraq (in first war), I don't heard that they was shuted (baran). Evry system to shot AWACS (american maded) Know evryone, so stayd your mined, with your self .

The first KJ-2000 to be built and flown was one of the four A-50Is on order for the Israeli Air Force, first flown in 1999 and delivered to Israel that year, but was later diverted to China in June 2002 after the Phalcon deal was canceled in 2001 by Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, eventually being fitted with homegrown AWACS equipment by the Xian Aircraft Company. Thus, the first KJ-2000 airframe was built in Russia, and only the AWACS system and electronics were Chinese-made.
