Potatoes.

No, milk is not used in the mashing of the potato, just water for boiling and cooking.

It is if you like them to taste good with a better texture.

Holy god, I even use milk in instant mash potatoes, HOW can you not use milk for pete's sake?

My heart aches for the poor souls that have had to eat your mashed potatoes. You put some damn half and half or even cream in there, salt, pepper, and an abundance of butter or

To be honest, I don't even like the way the cows are treated, since I've learned WAY more about it, than I could want to know. But it just isn't feasible, to go back to hand milking, the way it used to be.
Not to mention, Illegal, if you don't own your own cow.
The whole industry is messed up, thanks to certain regulations and rules.
And many dairy farms are on the brink of closing. At least here in MI.
Yet we are building a 20 million dollar cheese plant in my town, to open in 2020.

Crazy industry.

Actually, coconut milk is made from the flesh of the coconut.
The liquid inside is called coconut water.

Never liked mash made with milk.
I love it with butter though.
Add some spring onions, salt and pepper and it's gorgeous.

Can't get my kids to eat it though. Bloody millennials, no taste.

A lot of mammals have hooved feet - Hoofed Mammals - Even-toed. Artiodactyl, any member of the mammalian order Artiodactyla, or even-toed ungulates, which includes the pigs, peccaries, hippopotamuses, camels, chevrotains, deer, giraffes, pronghorn, antelopes, sheep, goats, and cattle.

If only they would gather milk from giraffes and hippopotomuses -
think of the animal power kids would gain - speed, agility, massiveness, tall height.

Now all the milking processes are automated - or becoming so - any animal
might suffice (horrors it is human milk) like mice. Reminds me of The Simpson's
malk, milk made from milking mice or was it rats? With robots doing the milking
it seems any animal could be milked and the consumer would know nothing of
it's true origins.

Time to quit milk in my 60's, I still drink it, must stop,
it is so weird to drink another animal's milk our whole lives.
