Ubuntu 32bit and speed

I've never learned how exactly the ram addresses are allocated, if it is w/n BIOS or if it is passed off to the OS

Hardware wise ?
CPU and memory controller
(Modern CPUs now have the memory controller and PCI controller built in)
BIOS or UEFI have little to do with memory size (other than reporting what the memory controller detects) and allocating the adapter ROM space.
Memory addressing is a book unto itself

With PAE extensions enabled , an OS can use up to 64Gb ( in some cases)

I would love to learn how to do that on my old machine running windows o/s i can put 4gb of ram in and it reads it but will only show 2 gb as usable here is the MB ETC specs Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo T5200 @ 1.60GHz Motherboard
AVERATEC and TRIGEM TGDII Series RAM
3.00GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 265MHz (4-4-4-12)

Computer - system properties ? probably to old 2007 ish but i would love to try

If the OS is Vista (or an NT version such as 2000) go to the following .
Windows XP has a small chance of not working due to level of Service Packs and other related items
Windows 98 or Millenium does not work

PAE On Earlier Windows Versions

Anything on the page that says type " " , do not use the quotes . Just what is within the quotes.

And , be careful. Sometimes due to random variables caused by the positions of the celestial objects , things dont turn out right
Use at your own risk (never saw anything really bad happen, though)

Thank you so much Gothmog i have win 7 basic on a ssd running on this machine , the reason i hold on to it is because it is super quiet and small and does what i need it to

Ubuntu very graphics intensive, try one with a smaller UI like xubuntu
