If instead of running for re-election in 2020, Trump was to decide to be the VP to a new candidate that resigned after two years and a day. This would elevate Trump to the Presidency and still be eligible for a second full four year term in 2024. Giving him a legitimate ten years as president just to show that he could do it.

The screams and tears would be more epic than 2016 or even 2020. And it is 4D chess just enough to make it worth a shot. Best of all, it would pave the way for an easy AOC victory in 2028, burying the DNC permanently once the country got a load that train wreck.

Why would anyone want to suffer even four years of AOC as CiC though?

Well, yes.

It would begin the era of the popcorn shortage.

I don't think he'd want to live the majority of his final years in the White House.

I'm a betting man, but I've never bet on American politics as this is even immoral for me (wouldn't judge anyone who did it).

But if I did bet on this, I'd say Trump doesn't finish a second term out of choice. I think he'll run and probably win the way things look.

Speaker of the House would then become the Vice-President?

Nope. President, former VP, hand picks his VP and Congress (maybe just Senate confirms the pick). Think back to Ford. He was hand picked by Nixon to replace Agnew then later Nixon resigned. But since was more than two years, August 1974-January 1977, he was only eligible for election in 1976 or could have ran in 1980. But either way was limited to one elected term.

Heck, I would do the 25 months just to see it happen and still be eligible for an additional term if it was for “health reasons and got better.” For the double tap troll of course. But winning after quitting would be a hard sell.

That new candidate that would win the presidency would have to have a major "love" for President Trump to do all of campaigning and fundraising required to win the votes; just to turn around and hand it all back to President Trump.

It would be throughly entertaining though- gold comedy for sure.

I'm a betting man as well and I lost bigly on trumps election. But I'll recoup my loss in 20. In fact I'll wager trump won't even run.

Don't worry to much about it. Politics is just light entertainment and a perfect vehicle to trigger conservatives.
Economically I will prosper as long as people watch TV and Movies on netflix, no matter who is in the WH.

Union proud, Union strong....

There's dirt to be had but I doubt it's in Russia.

I could make an easier case for attempts for money from Qatar by Cohen, money from Venezuelan oil companies or Israeli relationships through Kushner. Although none of those "matter".

My apathy comes of either side because if Trump is so bad (he's a mixed bag), than he should drive compitition to up the bar.

Frankly I haven't seen it.

I rooted for Trump once before because he wasn't Hillary (just my opinion, no harm no foul to those who were oppose Trump). He was never the end all be all for me, just a gamble. If he was so bad surely it would make Americans come together on what they want.

I doubt we'll get better and isn't that a sad thought.

Yes it is. And if my economic prognostications are accurate; it's going to be real ugly for some when the bubble pops.

But if I had to hazard a guess...you will be ok!

Thanks for explaining how the succession would work!

Donald Trump's physique will allow him to remain sharp and energetic well into his upper 80's.

I think if that happens, the Leftists would start the civil war and that would be the end of them at that point.
And AOC isn’t going to win anything in 2028, except maybe a used up porn star award or something like that.
You know, the record for how many she could take in one sitting.

I double checked, confirmation takes both House and Senate for VP appointments. Ford, the only person never voted on by the Electoral College for President nor VP. And he pardoned Nixon, which losing that pound of flesh is what I feel made the Dems nuts.

Are the Democrats sure they want to end the EC with that track record of absence?
