Is anyone else curious, why this person would claim to be Timothy, specifically, as apposed to any other "missing" child out there?
I'm sure the investigators are asking that same question. I would like to hear the answer, for sure.

Heart goes out to the family. To get your hopes up after all these years...

Who knows but I'll say this, In what WORLD does that man look like a 14 year old! Why it would even be leaked that there was any possibility on earth, should have immediately been squashed with one look at the guy.

Meth and heroine are big in the area. Those two drugs can distort your image considerably. Witnesses said he was bruised and beaten...could very well have been those weird meth scabs people get.

I agree, I just saw this on the news. It's disturbing that anyone would want to fake this.
that is a huge age difference.

Or.................

What if it is really him and he has a lot of dirt on important people....
so all of a sudden it isn't him..hmmm

Yeah, that was were my mind went, if he really had been caught up in something bad, maybe he had crossed paths with the real Timothy somewhere.
I wonder if we will hear any more about this fellows story?

Remains to be seen what on earth the mothers' involvement was....had she ever taken him out of school before?

She didn't tell dad and he was to pick him up, so she did this purposely.
Was da abusing the boy and she finally decided to leave, maybe she was fooled into some making her think they could or would help. many possibilities but the kid should be able to talk at this age.

Absolutely. Thing is, if one understands (not only me, but the rest of ATS) then we can not take this person's words as they seem to come across which is so often the case with people on the spectrum. It would be a shame to keep picking at them because they seem to offend on purpose.

I know many on the spectrum and they are brilliant people - they just think and communicate differently. But they are as special and valued as any other person.

Then, on the other hand there are people that like to pick fights or pinch back instead of trying to communicate.

The DNA results came back, negative. But....

Who's DNA did they use? Mom is dead, did they use Dads? If they used Dads DNA, and Mom jumped the fence unknowingly, It would be a negative.

It might be the right kid after all........

I wish it was, but it's not. It's a 23 year old meth head who made it all up. Some questions remain though...like why did he choose to call himself Timmothy? Has he encountered the real Timmothy? Or maybe crossed paths with the captors? Or was he just on a 3 day meth binge watching Investigation on Discovery, saw a couple episodes about the case, and in some methed out reasoning decided to run with it.

I had the same thoughts a Jag.

Is the pic of the 20 year old a pic of the escaped person?

The face of the NZ shooter and the guy that was taken to court were two different people.

Shooter was said to be 28, he's actually 42, the guy in court looks to be in his 60's.

I find it hard to believe any mainstream media reports.

Did any of you read the AMA on 8chan by a guy who was kidnapped(cant rememberis age at the time) sex trafficking and then left at McDonald's when he was 14?

His babysitters family picked him up when he was walking down the street.

They made porn for a living and he was a little star for them. They moved every couple of years.

He was happy because they treated him OK and gave him computer games.

At 14, they left him at a McDonald's and called the police.

Police had no record of him being missing and his parents were surprised to have him back home.

He found it hard to adjust to being abandoned by his new family.

Me? I think its pretty obvious that his birth family sold him.

I think in this case, you need to look at the Dad.

I reckon he sold the child and had mum killed off.

Maybe. They’re investigsting this guy for possible connections to a more serious crime. It’s possible the description of the two guys are of actual people he’s associated with. But it’s equally as possible they were bad guy characters from a movie he saw.

While they were trying to get information from him, he kept acting childish about everything. If they wanted information about Timmothys family he would tell them he was too tired to answer questions over and over again. He was uncoroperative about getting fingerprints. Just a total pain in the arse for LEO’s.

He made the claim he was Timmothy and somehow the media got wind of it. Law enforcement was never really sold on his claim but because the media got a hold of it it became more delicate. Anytime someone says they are a missing child, within reason, they have to investigate the claim. Obviously, they can’t be completely dismissive. In this case LEO but their tongues and played along.

They never wanted to get Timmothys family involved or get every one from Cincinnati to Iowa all riled up over it. The media just ran with it and took some of the investigation out of their control. They wanted to continue questioning him and get the DNA results before it went public.
