Another element is nickel/iron which I think is bright green.

Interesting on the lightning map

They say meteorites - larger ones such as asteroids and comets brought life to earth and water

But it’s interesting what they do to the atmosphere also, you can see the lightning showing high energy and also water vapour trailing

Never see those lightning maps provided for meteor strikes before

I found a decent size meteor that stuck to my heavy equipment while digging one day.

We thought it was a piece of magnet for a long time until someone told us it was a meteor worth a couple thousand.

I brought it home and stuck it on the fridge until someone stole it when I was having work done in the house

Duck and cover

I saw one very much like this about 4 years ago, mid September. Still, the most colourful and bright one I've seen!

Thank god for dash cam's, ey? You'd never be quick enough to snap a pic or vid manually.

Last week I went out for a smoke and saw a tiny green one streak through the sky above me. I think it's the Virginid meteor shower right now? It was just north of that constellation.

Wouldn't it be lit if you spotted a meteor like this except there's a ground shaking rumble at the end equivalent to a low level earthquake?

That's how the alien invasion movies start out.

Thanks for sharing. Cool video. I had to look up why its green.

From the American Meteor Society

"The dominant composition of a meteoroid can play an important part in the observed colors of a fireball, with certain elements displaying signature colors when vaporized. For example, sodium produces a bright yellow color, nickel shows as green, and magnesium as blue-white."

Green fireballs are due to nickel

Good catch, beautiful color. I wonder where it fell? It seems like it made it past our atmosphere and didn't split up, which is kind of weird.

The dudes reaction is priceless.

I'm starting to think some these meteors is space junk.

Man-made space junk usually travels much slower when reentering, and breaks up into pieces.
