Perhaps because America has been a pretty ugly place for a lot of people for a really long time.
The systematic oppression of anyone who wasn't a white male for nearly two centuries just doesn't seem to compute with you all?
We had to fight a whole war with ourselves to try and free black people. Even then, we did everything in our power to prevent them from succeeding. Meanwhile, Natives continued to be raped and slaughtered in the name of Manifest Destiny.
We can be proud of our achievements (we put a person on the friggin moon!) but we shouldn't pretend that America has always or was ever 'great' while it continued abhorrent practices of race, sexual and class discrimination.
When saving the ungrateful world...1918, 1945.... after that, not so much

Clearly Mr.Holder has an ugly opinion
of The United States of America.

No doubt America has had great moments, but MAGA can imply that America was great at one point. As if the key to our salvation as a country lies in the nostalgia for a time that never was.
Although, Make America Great (mag) isn't really catchy..
People take the MAGA thing to seriously anyway. No harm in asking philosophical questions as to what makes a country great. Can a country ever attain greatness and how?
Not a comment towards holder, but just the topic in general.
So America wasn't great when we fought a war to release ourselves from bondage to England.
America wasn't great when we wrote a Constitution and Bill of Rights to ensure that all men were equal.
America wasn't great when we took the time to fight a civil war to release the slaves from Democrats.
America wasn't great at all when we became the dominant economic and political force on the planet.
America wasn't great when we made so many industrial and technological advances that we became the leader of the free world.
To you, America isn't great because it hasn't bowed down to the forces of a tyrannical government and slid headfirst into socialism.
We're half way there and are teetering on the brink of it.
So YES.. let's make America Great again.
By keeping it rooted in the ideology that started it all, instead of throwing it all away for a Utopian fantasy.
That's what MAGA means, not that you'll understand it.
