Today, one of Saddam's judges has been assassinated. Out of the many judges that have been assassinated over the past year and a half in Iraq this
seems to be the highest profile case. Earlier in 2004, a British reporter, Robert Fisk, exposed the top judges identy with video of the judge from
behind and still photos of his profile which Iraqis could easily identify him by. Ever since the judge's safety has been in question by Iraqi's and
international observers alike. However as earlier reports were conflicting it was not this top judge but an investigating judge. Still, judges'
safety in Iraq are ever more risingly in doubt.

UPDATEBAGHDAD, Iraq — An investigating judge in the trial of deposed Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein (search) has been assassinated, FOX News has
learned.
U.S. officials originally said Judge Raid Juhi (search), had been killed, but another judge — one of dozens — was murdered. Details on the
assassination and that judge's identity were not immediately available.

As violence and political changes have been flaring in the middle east over the past two weeks the latest twist in Iraq comes after a violent car
bomb killed scores. This new development in Iraq's new government will have implications not only on the outcome of Saddam's trial but on the public
of view of the government's next judge selection.
Will the next judge hide away from the people? Will this lead to a less transparent trial and lack of information going on. Was this attack done by
the insurgents or the government to illegaly expel a member of the trial judges that did not conform. And what implications will this have on the
trial that will be getting under way?

Ooh.
OOPS!
A sudden sense of deja vu!
I just noticed, too, that I cannot read the submission while posting my reply.
Was this a pro-Saddam act, or no?

Spectre suggested I re-do it
I believe this probably was an act against the current administration in Iraq. The question that needs to be answered to support this is: Is this the
first time the Insurgents were actually able to successfully kill him?
If the answer to the question is no then maybe it was an act against Saddam. If the top trial judge had showed sympathies towards Saddam's case as he
had earlier pledged to give him a fair trial, it could be that he was 'taken out'. We'll see how this develops

They should think that. Let's get Robert Fisk's email address and see what he thinks. Make him a special ATS guest speaker on the topic of, "How
I'm Responsible For Another Man's Death and Got To Walk Free"
Is British mainstream media's regard for Iraqi life as such as they don't care to protect Iraqi officials as they would their own or is it that they
live in totaly different worlds and reporters like Robert Fisk don't even think of the possibility of backlash and assassination as a result of
identities revealed?
Beats me?

As fox news has updated it's story and now corresponds with Drudgereports earlier update of an hour ago (way to go Matt) it is less of a high profile
case but does deserve adequete attention.
I guess we can also let Robert Fisk of the hook, but I bet over there in England he had a scary Afternoon.

Maybe they can appoint a U.S. judge, assassinate him and then we can have Gulf War 3. No, but this news really surprised me, and then as I started
googling I found out sooooo many judges have been assassinated. I think we really should have an in-depth debate here at ATSNN examining what freedoms
Iraqi's have gained and what freedom's Iraqi's have lost. I think there are a lot of Freedom of Mind that they have lost. Some they have gained.
What's more burdensome, losing some gaining others or the whole mental process that they have to go through trying to identify and understand what's
been lost and gained. It's not like there is a brochure circulating outlining this. It's something they learn through experiencing a new form of
law. This must take time and energy and by physically and emotionally draining and potentially abusive.

Hahahaha, this is great, the guy wasn't shot!!! A judge was shot, but not his one! NBC messed up, a judge was shot, but not this
one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not only that, the judge was always shot with either face blurred or from behind. But thinking he was dead, NBC showed him without his face blurred,
so NOW the terrorists know who the judge is............
