More than likely this is just another rock on Mars. I thought it was worth pointing out because of the right angles and the hook-bracket looking part. There are also at least 2 images of this item. Unfortunately they are both from approximately the same angle.

A lot of rocks do have right angles, so I am not claiming this is proof of anything, just thought it was worth a look.

The images are from the MSL rover Curiosity, Sol 2354.

The first two images are reduced in size so they could be uploaded to ATS. The only processing that has been done to them is converting the images to color.

I reckon some of the “rocks” I’ve seen pics of are 100% artificial and at some stage in the past Mars probably had a civilisation on it.

I don’t mean to pee on your parade but that rock definitely looks like a rock to me.
S&F for effort and to encourage you to keep rockin

Ain't no rock...You can clearly see the piece of metal attached to it, like maybe it was clay at one time...Good catch...

The color from the bayer images is no where near "true color". For some reason NASA stopped releasing the color MastCam images and now releases mostly crappy bayer images.

Nothing wrong with Bayer images, they still get you in the ballpark with RGB filtering... even if it's not close to true color, it still shows the soil composition is different.

Now I'm starting to see what really happened here haha.... Nasa carved JPL into the rock!!!

lol

Lol, you broke the code.

It's not just the color of the bayer images the resolution is crappy too. It's better than nothing, I would just like to know why NASA quit using the better MastCam images.
