The "video number" would be "NpOtkhBcc8k", immediately after the "watch?v=".
Anything including and after the "&" symbol gets ignored. All you have to do is copy and paste your corresponding video number into the youtube video

I believe the "weird code" mentioned in the OP was taken from a video which had been stopped in the middle, so the code included instructions to start
the video later than the beginning.
From memory, the extra code would be something like "&t=50s", which starts the video running 50 (or whatever) seconds after the beginning. That's the
code which mucks things up and needs to be deleted.
