I hate schools!

Special treatment for the right people...

My daughters friend got busted for having weed.
Pulled over and searched by the cops produced a bag of weed...

She's not in any trouble like detention or anything because she wasn't caught at school.
She was suspended for 25% of the softball season.. Like 7 games...
This girl is a very good pitcher..

Flashback to volleyball season.
Three girls started the season on suspension.
Two got caught using a vape/jull in school and were penalized 25% of the season.
The other one was drunk at prom and was suspended for 50% of the season.
All of them are fair not great volleyball players.

Now my question.
Should a girl caught with a legal substance be suspended longer than a girl caught with an illegal substance?

I say the same punishment...
That sucks cuz it puts more innings pitched on my daughter but right is right..

Am I off base here?

Well, all three of those are illegal for kids under eighteen aren't they?

Everyone broke the law though. Vaping inside public buildings is illegal so is having weed where your from.

All are pretty petty crimes anyways. Alcohol is illegal for a minor to have as is weed.
I guess they took circumstances into consideration just like they do for adults.

Schools have their own special rules and some are really stupid, but they are well known to the students and parents.

Also your examples are not apples to apples.
What you do in school is totally different than outside of school. I know sports have special rules about conduct outside of school though.

Very true.
Speeding is illegal.
A hit and run is illegal.

They don't get equal fines.

But shouldn't a girl with marajuana get at least equal punishment as a girl drinking?

High school is basically just boot camp for society. Their job is to crush whatever is left of your spirit by the time you get to them and send you out ready for hard labor and no ability or desire to rebel. Accordingly, they do that pretty well. If they can get the kids to attend reliably and convince them to take the process seriously, they have a pretty damn high success rate of manufacturing a usable tax cow.

Alcohol and drug use are warning signs that you might not be entirely docile and obedient so they need to be dealt with.

This is what all boot camp type experiences are designed to do. Wring whatever resistance and natural aversion to control and manipulation out of you and set you on the mind-numbing, soul-crushing path of a single-minded task.

Legally perhaps.
In my own personal experience the booze is a far worse substance. Leads to far greater mistakes and impairment.
Your vastly more likely to die from consuming alcohol then weed.

I agree with that but this is about the laws as they are not as they should be.

errr yeah, I would have thought that would have been obvious.

Punishment does depend on the drug, to be fair being caught with half a gram of afghan opium is a lot worse than being cot with a joint, just like being caught with a bag of weed is worse than being caught with a few bottles of beer. The punishment changes in proportion to the crime, now you might disagree with how the school makes that judgment but personally I would say just ban them and be done with it.

All should be permanently expelled from school.

There's a reason the world is degenerating and crime is increasing.

Discipline is lacking. In a big way.

Degenerating from what? I've been trying to figure that out. Looking back I don't see a whole lot of awesomeness anywhere in human history. I don't actually think it's possible for humans to degenerate any more than we always were.

i will probably be the only one but i think the girl vaping and the girl drunk should 'maybe' get suspended for a few games but the kid off site with the smoke should not be suspended from games at all.

it was off site.
right or wrong people should be allowed to have a personal life.

that is for her and her parents to deal with.
not saying kids should or should not.
i just dont feel like how something off site could boot you from games.

something at school i can kind of understand.

suspend them from school. if any games are played during that suspension then miss those games.

but suspending from games as some extra punishment defeats the purpose IMO.

i just dont think that is the right way to go.

i feel like more people will just say F the sport and keep doing the other vs give up the other and say with sport.

not popular but it is what it is

Okay, what are you not telling us?

What in your mind makes the drunk girl one of the wrong people?

Obviously you think there's something else at play here.

All athletes have to sign a code of conduct policy that includes the possibility of random drug testing.
It also has verbiage about off campus behavior.

They agree to those terms or they dont play.

I dont think minors committing a first offense should be thrown away that easy.
Multiple offenders is a different story.
