And so it begins. Yesterday, democratic socialist, Mayor Bill de Blasio, announced that all New York public schools will offer "all-vegetarian breakfast and lunch menus every Monday," in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Apparently, a pilot program was started in 15 Brooklyn schools in the spring of 2018.

I'm all for eating healthier, but how far will this go, especially after the latest push from many Liberals and Progressive Democrats to reduce our carbon footprint? Last month, Spartacus himself, Sen. Cory Booker, stated that the world can’t sustain people eating meat. Remember how Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s staffers removed "farting cows" from her “Green New Deal,” which initially stated that cow flatulence was a source of methane emissions? I say, feed the kid's baked beans for lunch on Monday's! Maybe "farting school kids" will one day be blamed for increasing greenhouse gas emissions. Oh, the irony!

On Monday, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that starting in the 2019-20 school year, all New York public schools will offer "Meatless Mondays" in their breakfast and lunch meals to "improve New Yorkers' health and reduce greenhouse gas emissions."

New York City Council Member Justin Brannan said, “We are not taking climate change seriously unless we are talking about the astounding role animal agriculture and meat production plays in greenhouse gas emissions. Mitigating the effects of climate change means thinking outside the box and that means looking at the foods we purchase especially when it comes to what we feed our children in public schools."

"Offer"

My daughters school has "offered" vegetarian lunches for years.
You dont have to eat the vegetarian choice but its available.

And if they really want to cut down on emissions they should cut school to 3 days a week and have e-learning days for 2.

Let's hope the extremism doesn't become an issue here.

I'm all up for eating healthier either, and we really should eat less meat.

As long as it's still an option and not something forced, I won't be pulling any triggers.

Yet.

So, the kids can pack their own lunch to keep from turning into a vegetable. Vegetables can't think for themselves, they just repeat what other vegetables say.

"Offer" seems to be misused here.
www.fox10phoenix.com...

The articles I'm reading on it indicate on Mondays NYC schools will only "offer" meatless menus. It's bullcrap and, frankly, it's demonstrative of just how effed up this country's public education system is, not to mention how skewed towards the radical left the Education Industrial Complex is. The constant mantra of meatless being "healthier" is nonsense and has no tested science behind it, only agenda driven pseudo-science. Meat is healthy and the human body was designed to consume it.

Yeah as long As those who want meat may continue to receive their proper human nutritional protein needs, they could offer vegetarian all year long for All I care.

We've seen news articles over the past few years about schools in Chicago, Virginia, Connecticut, and others banning homemade packed school lunches, so it will likely be on the docket to do the same in NYC before long.

Sounds about right coming from a meatless and nutless mayor. Kids wont eat that crap, all it will do is change the totals on the food supplier for the city schools.

What does a jacksnip that lives in a city know about farming?

People like this snip are contemptable.

What the #? How? How can they ban you from bringing lunch? That's idiotic. My elementary school didn't even have a cafeteria and I can probably count the number of times on one hand I used the one in my highschool.

No one said anything about 'vegetables' in those articles just meatless. Grilled Cheese and beans are cheap too...
They are broke...even the top 5 sign says they will save money without meat.

Only 3.2% of the US population are vegetarian and .5% is vegan. So on that note, I fully support this so his constituents vote him out asap.

How do you get cheese without cows?

How do you efficiently grow beans without machines powered by internal combustion engines?

Did you really think that statement through?
