Threads closed with no explanation?

Why is it that threads get closed when it is a thoughtful/debatable topic?

Is it because it has the potential to become mind numbingly boring for mods to police or is there just that much history of arguing in similar threads?

Just curious.

I dunno for sure, but that thread looks like it was nothing but a bunch of arguing about nothing. With pretty much nothing substantial or useful in it.

I'm not sure that is a good reason to close a thread, if there were no personal attack though.

Not a big deal either way, but I also wondered about the reason.

You can and should message the mod for an explanation rather than to have posted this OP. You're getting the cart before the horse here.

Thread get closed for many reasons.
It often has to do with the OP, in which case it is between the OP and the staff.
Sometimes it is content.....the thread is off the rails, needs a cool off or a cleanup.
Sometimes it is the topic, it doesn't meet ATS standards.


Members do not often know the reason, and it is not productive to speculate.
So, since the question has been answered, thread now closed.
