sigh you cant be this obtuse the police gave a press conference and released what info they deemed fit ,that is not Leaking as you put it that is quite literally one of their jobs , id rather get accurate information from them compared to some of the rumors going around currently that range from some what believable to "whoa man take off the tin foil hat" levels of insanity

www.lasvegasnow.com... and just in case your salty about the number of charges this is how chicago does things and has for a while

CHICAGO (AP) - News that a grand jury had indicted "Empire" actor Jussie Smollett for allegedly lying to Chicago police about being attacked by two masked men may not have made much of a splash except for one thing: The lone felony count that Smollett had been arrested on last month had turned into 16. The reasons Smollett is facing 16 counts rather than just one count of disorderly conduct - the felony in Illinois that people are charged with when accused of lying to police - are not fully explained in the indictment that a grand jury returned Thursday. But legal experts say indictments like that aren't uncommon in Chicago, and there are some explanations as to how the grand jury could have arrived at the 16 counts, eight of them for Smollett's comments to a police officer and eight others for what he told a detective. The first starts with something that has been apparent since Chicago police Superintendent Eddie Johnson briefed reporters last month on the investigation: Authorities are angry at Smollett. "What you have is a police department and prosecutors that are obviously mad at him for embarrassing the city so they took every one of his lies and made it into another count," said Terry Sullivan, a prominent local attorney who as a young prosecutor helped convict serial killer John Wayne Gacy in 1980 of killing 33 young men. Smollett's attorney, Mark Geragos called the 16-count indictment "prosecutorial overkill." But prominent Chicago defense attorney Joseph Lopez, who is not involved in the Smollett case, said it's the way prosecutors in Chicago do business. "It is common practice for the Cook County state's attorney to charge as much as they can for any kind of crime," he said. A former state appellate judge suggested such a strategy might be employed by prosecutors trying to protect themselves from the possibility that a jury or a judge might believe some, but not all, of the allegations.
so yeah they are rightfully pissed he lied to them and wasted their time oh and the fbi is also investigating and they are keeping quiet as is there usual way but if he told the same story to them or multiple stories they get to go after him for that as well as mailing the letter

The FBI, which is investigating that letter, has declined to comment on the investigation. But if Smollett did talk to the FBI, depending on what he said, he could be in more legal trouble. "Lying to the FBI is a crime," said Erickson. Smollett is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, where he will likely enter a formal plea to the 16 counts.
from same source guess we get to hear his plea on Thursday which would be the 14th ,but on the plus side they may not make him serve the sentences for each offense if convicted as additional time but may just stack them all into one at least on the state level

tomahawk said the same thing about the lawsuits from the maga hat kids that at last count had served CNN and wapo for about 250 million a pop in slander charges, his argument there was kids could not be waiting for a bus to pick them up to take them back to either their hotel or town (i honestly forget which) as that would be them "illegally protesting" and thus invalidated the covington kids legal argument . he likes to pick these "random hills to die on" as i stated(and he some how took that as a threat?) in the other thread. but hey with this post getting to this many pages its probably good for ad revenue for the site at least

Yeah, waded through it all on that thread too. It's like having a debate with a three year old that will not listen no matter.

Uncle, why did Jussie claim they were white?

They hid their skin. Only one of them spoke during the attack and with a loud voice spouting racial stuff. He is an actor too.

You really need to stop calling them 'actors'. They were extras - it's a huge difference. They're paid to stand in the background and fill space, usually because they physically suit a role. They were included because they are black and have a muscular physique, not because they are classically trained with voice coaching.

Yes one of them is an actor. They did not want to be cast as big black criminals. Yet they were and at jussies work place.

You keep pointing out an old post by one of the brothers that Nigerians should not always play the bad guy, yet he did. They accepted a paid role, right? It wasn't indentured servitude, correct?

You also suggested earlier in this thread that they were angry at Jussie because Jussie cast them in that role. You know that's not a decision an actual actor makes, right?

So according to you, they accepted a paid role as bad guys, which was so against their personal beliefs that Nigerians should stop being cast as bad guys, that it made them so mad at Jussie that many weeks later they rode out in the middle of the night during a polar vortex to beat him up (while trying to convince him they were rednecks), but were also happy enough with Jussie that they agreed to accept more work to help train him up and supply him with drugs?

Well, I'm now convinced. Looks like the CPD have a lot to answer for...
Never the less one of the brothers definitely post that nigerians should never be cast as criminals and they should not take finical gains from such. Remember they did not send jussie to the hospital but they did rattle his cage.

That reasoning is just if not stronger as using jussie wanted more money. I think most all employees believe they are not being paid enough. My main point is that everything the state has is circumstantial yet they act like he should spend his life in jail and the brothers should go free.

If three people rob a bank and two of them are caught and are let go cause they claim the third person paid them to do it does that make any sense what so ever? Perhaps a reduced sentence but they do not like to let criminals go. Something is not right about the situation.

On top of that jussie maintains in the face of spending his life in jail he maintains that he did not do this. That has to count for something too.

Why no lie detector test? The brothers would fail! Jussie would pass! Set the test up to be done by someone fair and not involved with the chicago pd. Maybe the fbi or even a totally independent group or groups for redundancy.

Yeah, everybody but Smollett is lying. No way could Smollett be lying. All police are bad. All criminals are good. Heck, we don't even need police do we?

The odds Smollett is telling the truth must be about equal to the odds that a whale and a pot of petunia's will fall out of the sky and land on Harry Reid's head when I hit the reply button.
(note: no idea why I picked Reid, just popped into my head)

Makes me wonder if weed is legal where ever you are...
Look there is no concrete evidence in the case and we as Americans are bound by loyalty to afford jussie the benefit of the doubt.

The way cpd did not give jussie the benefit of doubt and leaked the details the whole way and let two definitely guilty people off the hook so they could go after jussie is not standard operating procedure.

Jussie is not a criminal and he is not lying.

Then it should be easy for you to cite and quote the evidence that supports he is not lying vs the evidence that points to he lead the efforts to stage a hoax.

I have pointed to it over and over for you. Did you go and listen to fox news radio? Did you read the indictments listed in the thread? Such has been posted now go knock your self out.

Smollett reported an actual event that took place. The brothers lied.

Then please state what crime the two brothers should be charged with.

Are you trying to say the only crimes that took place is lying to police by either jussie or the two brothers? I remember someone going on and on about hate crimes.

They do not know if he lied to them. They suspect it based on the two brothers telling them he paid them yet the only money exchanged has been verified for other services. If you think the indictments are in proportion then enjoy your police state cause you earned it.

Why were they not subjected to lie detector test? It is because the police are hiding the truth.

Yes, Jessie is a criminal and has given false information to cops in the past.

2007 misdemeanor case
According to the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office, Smollett pleaded no contest to providing false information to law enforcement in a 2007 misdemeanor case resulting from a DUI stop in which Smollett gave police a false name.[42] Smollett also pleaded no contest to driving with a blood alcohol level over the legal limit and driving without a valid driver's license,[42] and was sentenced to a fine and two years of probation.[42]

What’s with you and blatant falsehoods? You have zero credibility, and you have zero scruples. I know not to feed the trolls. But this has turned into a case study of how you lie to yourself to keep your delusion alive.

Jussie Smollett has a history of lying to the cops and once pretended to be his little brother when he was pulled over for a 2007 DUI in Los Angeles

www.dailymail.co.uk...

Jussie Smollett lied to the police before by claiming he was his little brother Jake when he was pulled over for a DUI in 2007.

The actor pleaded no contest to giving false information in addition to driving under the influence and driving without a valid license, according to records obtained by NBC.

The incident took place in Los Angeles and he was 25 at the time. Jake, one of his three brothers, was 18.

Smollett said his name was Jake then reportedly signed it on a promise to appear in court.

He was charged with false impersonation, driving under the influence and driving without a license but later pleaded no contest to the reduced count of providing false information.

Smollett was given two years probation, a choice of a fine or jail and completed an alcohol education and treatment program the following year.

He is an idea. Instead of making up what people said, find an actual source. Then provide a quote of what the person actually said, and give context.

He was covering for his brother.

Wtf how?

Actor Jussie Smollett Pretended To Be His Brother During California DUI Arrest

www.yourcentralvalley.com...

A California misdemeanor complaint against Jussie Smollett shows the actor was accused of identifying himself as his younger brother in 2007 when a Los Angeles police officer pulled him over on suspicion of driving under the influence.

The misdemeanor complaint filed in Los Angeles Superior Court in September 2007 says that Smollett gave the name of his brother, Jake Smollett, when he was asked by an officer. He also signed a false name on the promise to appear in court. Smollett also was later charged with false impersonation, driving under the influence and driving without a valid license.

Jessie was the person pulled over, while Jessie was the one driving. How is giving up and signing his little brother’s name “covering for his brother.”
