I guess ATS has become AAP (A lot About Politics). I am sure other members feel the same. I see politics everywhere else too. My baseball forums, meme sites, and even Engadget has references sometimes. What happened? Obama? Trump? Take your pick. Every main topic here is now AOC, Hillary, Trump, Mueller, Cohen, etc.

I miss the old ATS when someone hears a loud noise and their windows shake and it hits main page then we gotta calm them down and explain it was either a jet going super or a small rock coming through the atmosphere.

Most of those people grew up and learned not every odd thing to them should be scary or mystic. There are still plenty of "saw a small of light in the sky, it's aliens" around.

One of the key events, for ATS, is that 2012 didn't happen. That completely depressed the "new age speculation" market, which has never recovered.

This is something that should be expected when following conspiracy. Those on the far left generally don’t buy into conspiracy unless that involves politics. And those on the right will always question things. Which is a good thing if you ask me. But then you get into the Alt-right that can plague forums similar and just spread propaganda. Those utilization of such tactics can easily sway the opinion of the questionable. Only when one questions facts can they be persuaded to believe a false narrative.

Take that for what it is and move forward dude.

The most popular topics are on the front page. Of 35, 23 of them are political.

I can kind of get where the OP is coming from. There did used to be a wider range of conversation going on besides politics. They are still here, it just takes a little more patience to scroll down the page to find them.
There is no doubt that politics has become a mud slinging contest all over the world and that means it becomes interesting. That leads to more threads about them.
I am not into American politics so it can be a little jarring to see everything being about Trump or Clinton.

It's just the way it's gone. I pick and choose what I want to read and reply to. Always have.

Bookmark NEW threads forum to open signed on instead of "main page"...of which I've never known ATS has one?!...

Everyone opens or is always signed into their own preferencial "start" page, and in NEW, there's every topic from UFO's to music, recipes, historical conspiracies, poetry, jokes...even how to fix. something on a certain car.

Don't know why you consider using your "main" page...but it doesn't have to be.

Most of the compelling conspiracies and conspiracy theories of our time are political in nature. You can't get into them without the political debates and polarized opinions. Almost all news and current events are also political in nature now.

ATS would die if politics were censored and eliminated completely.
