I think the main selling point of Socialism is that it lifts the believer from the responsibility they share towards their fellow man. Rather than provide healthcare, housing, cheap education or good wages, they would much rather someone else take care of it. Socialism is a piece of mind for the irresponsible.

It is? I mean... the stats take into account EARNINGS, not what people spend their money on. I am not sure what you're trying to say...

Regardless of what Americans are buying or not, there is a massive gap in wealth distribution.

The fact is Americans are earning less and less, while the already wealthy are earning more and more. Like I said (and showed) wages are stagnant.

Regards to housing.

Socialism would be devastating to STATE power, and revenue.

If the fed owns everything.

What's left for the states?

Those earning are a LIE.

Because they don't count what employers are forced to pay for their employs WHICH is income as well as their benefits.

Because currently in america the average working man doesn't make enough to support his family and pay his bills.

They feel like capitalism failed them.

And although ats likes to pretend that a mix of socialism/capitalism has never and will never work anywhere, the facts are very different.
The young are more educated about the current world.

When they see a list like this mic.com...
They find out what kind of government works in those places.

I'm not saying that I agree or disagree but I think I can see where the young are coming from here.

The right puts out propaganda stating that the left wants full on socialism.
But what the majority of the left really want is a mix of the things that they know have worked in other places.

I call it the "game reset" mindset. Young people today see that older people have a better life and they say I want that too, but instead of working for it they want the game of life reset so all can start out again at level 1. You see it is not fair to them for older people to already be at level 50 as they start at level 1, they want all to restart with them just as it would be in a game they are so use to do.

The other side is the hopes of getting something for free. Remember when people were asked why are they voting for Obama and we heard... "Obama is going to buy me a house" and he didn't but that doesn't stop the left from reusing the same tag lines of "get free stuff, vote for us" over and over in every election.

So you are young and just starting out you have very little, so why not get your loans all paid off, get free healthcare with nothing needed to pay into it, get 25 bucks an hour cooking French fries, get free housing so on and so on...might as well have those old people pay for it all...

Socialism to them is like seeing all those lots on a Monopoly board with hotels in front of them and they get a "Advance to Go and collect 200.00" card. Easy money

As quoted below:

Survivors = First cycle of people who lived through the world changing event. Survivors who didn’t survive the event are also known as Victims. The children of these people are taught how to survive in the new world, and are classed as Creators.

Creators = These people were taught to survive, but also evolve what they know with new ways of thinking. Often people of this generational cycle are those who invent more items than of other cycles. While these inventions are created to better the lives of those around them, their children often use that success of this to sell, trade, or market these ideas in an attempt to further better their lives.

Marketers = These are the children of the Creator Generation. These people more often than not will live off the ideas of their parents, but also add some new ideas to expand upon the marketability of the items they are selling.

Exploiters = One generation later the children of the Marketers want to make more tradable items so that they can “live better” then their parents. This generation of people will have a higher percentage of criminals and lower standards of molars than the earlier generations.

Warriors = The off shoot of the Exploiter cycle will try and fix the damage of the issues created by their parents. Often times when a large percent of a population is in this stage large scaled wars take place (WWII is a perfect example of this, as is the War of the Roses)

Deniers = This generation is unusually large due to the population boom that occur from wars. These people will often grow up in the wars of their parents, but as adults will pretend that most things are OK. This is mainly out of the fact that the Denier Cycle will avoid conflict, but more often than not will start small heated issues by ignoring the problem to begin with.

Changers = The opposite end of the Deniers are oddly enough their own children. This group will want to change things for the better, but unlike earlier cycles will try peaceful solutions first.

Rewarders = This cycle of people will always seek out comfort for themselves first and foremost. Unlike the Exploiters, Rewards don’t want to make stuff better for themselves, but rather use what others have to make themselves feel better.

Social Creators = This cycle of people attempt to reach out past the self-involved world of their parents and try to feel better about themselves through interacting with others.

Loofers = This cycle of people would rather do nothing, and let stuff happen then try and fix issues, invent stuff, or take part of events. It’s at this point where I believe that the genetic effects of the World Changing Event has worn off, and that the nature of people have become morally unable to rally up and make changes, but rather sit and complain.

Victims = This is both the last class and first cycle of this generation cycles.. If you die during the World Changing Event you’re a Victim, but if you Survive than you’re a Survivor Class.

I got this from an old Philosophy class I took years ago. The basis of which was supposedly how people in the past were able to make predictions of future events. All a Philosopher had to do was recognize what cycle they were living in, and then could make a prediction about a future event. This was supposedly how the sophists would get work
in the pre-Athens era. It was later debunked as how a sophist would get work, but for some reason the idea was later morphed into the "Generational Theory" and cycle of history theory.

The terms were updated by me so that I wouldn't have to explain to much of what the Greek words meant.

A load of snip.

If employers were not forced to pay for their employers medicare, social security, workmans comp,un employment insurance that hourly wage would be higher.

It's all WAGES.

I can only speak for myself, and somewhat for my friends, but it is not working for them.

You go to an accredited college to get hired. You rack up $100,000 in debt. You can't get hired right away because everywhere requires experience. You have to settle for a low paying entry job. However, everyone expects you to move out and pay off your loans with the low level entry job. Next thing you know, you are about to turn 30 finally getting to where you thought you'd be at 22 (and where you were told you would be) and the older generation is judging the crap out of you still.

The Year Zero mindset was tried by the Khmer Rouge and it failed miserably. Like the french revolution, is resulted in a reign of terror and the destruction of history, knowledge, and ultimately, living people.

Student debt wasn't an issue until the Govt. got involved. Now everyone gets a useless degree and starts out with 60 - 100+ K in debt.

Then they waste their time getting a useless BA in liberal arts majoring in Beyonce studies and wonder why they can only get a job a costco.
And after being raised with safe spaces and getting participation trophies they want the Govt to take care of them.

The problem is there is no personal responsibility anymore.

Socialism doesn't work for the simple reason that it goes against the basics of nature.
While it may appear ideal, but the reality is that nobody really wants to be equal to another. In life as soon as a group of people are designated as equal, someone in the group will always try to better their position in order to be the leader. As soon as a leader is picked, others will try and seek favor of that leader, and then the whole idea of socialism falls apart.

Even if the statistics themselves are absolutely accurate, the words that describe what they are measuring can be grossly misleading.

I suggest people read this instead of parroting propaganda.

In the mean time your bud who became a plummer apprentice with OJT was making 140k a year by the age of 25 with zero debt...

People need to first look at their first failure point and for many it was college. If you do not have prospect employers looking at you by your Junior year you are most likely in a degree that does not align with the business world. Just because your college told you the degree would get you 100k a year job that means nothing to the working world.

All that effort you put in high school and then in college along with 60k debt gets you a participation trophy in most cases. In stead of suing the college people want to blame the business world for not giving them their just rewards for all the schooling they accomplished.

Yes, it has everything to do with envy and laziness.

The truth is society is changing because of Science and Technology and many of these kids are too lazy to change with it. So they want corrupt Politicians to take from people who are changing with the Global Economy and give them a bunch of free stuff.

The reason people are stuck in the status quo is because they want all of the latest gadgets without changing and adapting so when a Corrupt Politician says I will take from a millionaire or billionaire and give you a bunch of free stuff, the Politics of envy kicks in. Here's some examples of people who learned a skill online.

A Syrian Refugee learns to be a Software Developer.

Here's a self taught Software Developer.

Here's a full free beginner Python course.

Here's a Deep Learning tutorial using Python.

My point is, there's a lot of ways to learn a new skill that's in demand in this changing economy. Young people should know this. They know how to make a Tik Tok video or swipe on Tinder but they can't take the time to advance themselves? Instead they have to cheer on Bernie or AOC to take other people's money and give them free stuff?

Wealth inequality is at a near-record high. The American worker is earning less and less, while owners and CEO's and shareholders are making more, and more.

The problem with this thinking is that wealth isn't a zero sum game. When the rich get wealthier it isn't because they take wealth from the poor. Wealth expands. We're all much wealthier, healthier, safer etc. than we were 100 years ago.

When the rich get richer, so do the poor.

*Proceeds to post an article full of stats.

LOL, I guess irony isn't lost on you, huh?

Anyways, your linked article doesn't do much to dispute the graphs I linked sooo... cool? My stats have nothing to do with 'households' ... the first graph is about the share of production output, while the second takes into account individual employees.

All young folks are like that
I was
Then they grow up and realize "oh , crap , what was I thinking ?"
It is the ones that never grow up that are the problem
Wisdom comes with age (if one accepts it)
