US Navy dispatches destroyer, cargo ship through Taiwan Strait in message to China

The U.S. Navy dispatched a guided-missile destroyer and a cargo ship through the Taiwan Strait Monday, the latest in a series of American military maneuvers intended to send a message to Beijing that the United States will continue its support of Taiwan in the face of recent threats by the Chinese government.

The passage through the strait -- shadowed by Chinese warships -- comes hours after President Trump touted “substantial progress” in trade talks with China and announced plans to delay a planned tariff increase on $200 billion in Chinese goods, which had been scheduled to go into effect next week.

This is not a way to send a diplomatic message but rather your sending the Chinese the message that America is ready to throw some fits and start a war no matter the consequences.

The message to China? America wants the dominance of Asia.

But China gets to create artificial islands and claims previously international waters as territorial waters, they get to threaten Taiwan with war and subjugation, but the US is the aggressor? Taiwan is an independent nation trying desperately not to fall under the shadow of Chinese communism.

There are a few reasons, good ones perhaps.
Surely it has nothing to do with China raising thier own islands from the ocean floor or say stuff like this...

www.ustaiwandefense.com...

But see it how you like, I'm just a casual observer.

China has made a lot of belicose gestures in the region lately, claiming Taiwan as there own, making artificial islands in international waters and claiming it now belongs to them.
Good to remind them once in a while that while they may have more ships ours are still much bigger and badder.
Putting them off balance a bit for upcoming trade negotiations is probably also a factor.

But China gets to create artificial islands

Like how America gets to military occupy provinces like Kosovo?

but the US is the aggressor

Since when is China the aggressor? and since when does China have 800+ Military bases around the world or threatens leaders?

By your logic maybe the Russians should remind the Americans that Kosovo isnt American or Albanian for that matter?

they get to threaten Taiwan with war and subjugation

But its ok when America threatens other countries with regime changes, military overthrows, sanctions and military occupations right?

Taiwan is an Taiwan is an independent nation nation

hahah haha

don't give me the nonsense that Taiwan is an independent nation crap.
This is all about the sphere of influence and dominance. Being " independent nation" doesn't exist unless you either become a puppet to the west or east.

America loves to use Taiwan as a fiddle so they can be close to China.

The term Ethnic Cleansing came about from what happened in Kosovo.

We put an end to it.

I don't know why you're comparing this to Kosovo, but nothing like that is going on here. Nor is the situation as dire or deadly.

Do you know whose the majority now? Kosovo population is now 98% Albanian Serbian Christians who lived there for decades which u chased out are now a small minority.

I don't know why you're comparing this to Kosovo,

Because it is. You Americans always viewed Kosovo as an independent state dispute the fact that its a province that belongs to Serbia.

You Americans sided with war criminals. Kosovo is now run by criminals but that's not really a surprise.

Taiwan IS an independent nation just like south korea is an independent nation from north korea. Just like the united states is an independent nation from England. Just like spain is independent from rome. Just like Brazil is independent of Portugal.

China does bully their neighbours. Economically and militarily. China covets and steals land thats not theirs. China covets and steals international waters that arent theirs. China throws hissy fits like a spoiled petulant child when they dont get their way or are busted doing naughty things.

Taiwan has a right to exist and is no longer part of china. There are distinct ideological differences between china and Taiwan that cant be reconciled. China is just butthurt that people that used to be chinese no longer wish to be so and succeeded in escaping the shackles of their system and gained independance

As for their military. They cant deploy it to any world power that matters because they simply dont have the logistics to do so. Their navy would get sunk at will if they tried anything. Their airforce cant survive a single engagement against the front line 5+ generation aircraft theyd be going up against. And their soldiers would never make it ashore if they tried to invade taiwan.
All china can do is punk Vietnam or thailand by crossing their borders. And in all out battle between the usa they'd get slaughtered. And they know it.

Or how about this message... Don't F with your #1 consumer... We are the reason China is who they are, and if they want to mess with their #1 consumer have at it... The consequences might be more than they bargain for.

I assume that message says

"WATCH out we are coming after you. We don't want any rivals in the world and if you know whats good for you, you will surrender now.

We have you surrounded with millar-terry basis.

If you don't surrender we are going vilify and demonise you, make you a terrorist regime and then we will bomb you if still resist our imperialism and our desire to own and control the world which is our destiny.

So watch out"

Maybe they should just flip a coin to see who is the real China once and for all.

It'd be a lot less messy that's for sure.

Some of you forgot to type USA! USA! USA! at the bottom of your posts, so much American bravado going on here.

Taiwan is such a convenient excuse for America to get up in China's face...

Just thinking that perhaps an intelligent move would be to assemble a fleet from all nations opposed to this or allied to the
those opposed to the China Sea position. Doesn't have to be just USA or Taiwan. Could include Japanese, British or Commonwealth countries, Pacific counties, other Asian counties, European, even NATO.

Then navigate through the flamin disputed seas as one unit and return. Might send a message that freedom of the seas relates to all counties not just Taiwan and USA.

This may negate other counties feelings towards following China's intent and claims.

I understand that this may be pie in the sky thinking but it isn't beyond the realm of possibilities considering the amount of seaborne exercises that occur daily in all oceans.

Australia sold out to the Chinese by leasing them Darwin harbor. Does that mean they can start building infrastructure there and banning navigation in those parts?

Anyway, my thoughts,

kind regards,

bally
