The scientific method is an empirical method of acquiring knowledge that has characterized the development of science since at least the 17th century.

It involves careful observation, applying rigorous skepticism about what is observed, given that cognitive assumptions can distort how one interprets the observation.

It involves formulating hypotheses, via induction, based on such observations; experimental and measurement-based testing of deductions drawn from the hypotheses; and refinement (or elimination) of the hypotheses based on the experimental findings.

These are principles of the scientific method, as distinguished from a definitive series of steps applicable to all scientific enterprises.

Will real scientists please stand up?

It's been in a constant state of motion for eons.

Mankind has always adapted to it.

Aww! It's so cute when neo tries to talk science.

Even cuter when people try to make me the topic when they've no real argument.

So if the majority of the voters decided that atoms don't exist that makes it reality for the US?

AOC is an absolutely terrifying person to listen to, Seriously.

...

She predicted that the planet would face “disaster if we don’t turn this ship around,” claimed there was a “scientific consensus” that “the lives of children are going to be very difficult,” and said that young people were wondering, as a result, “Is it OK to still have children?”

Anyone that believe's AOC's snip, shouldn't reproduce to be blunt.

...

It's all part of a nifty little package. Shut up, don't disagree with what we say or it's hate speech, eat insects (so the elites can have all the meat), use bicycles, dumb down your children with Common Core (while the elites use private schools), and most importantly of all: DON'T HAVE CHILDREN!

Because the elites don't like loitering in front of their gates. With robots getting better by the minute, there is a limit to how many peasants and human servants they need.

It's very handy to have a mouth breather like Ms. Cortez spread the message. She probably doesn't even know she does it.

If we all pull together and regress to the 19th Century, the lifestyles of the rich and shameless may be preserved!

To the future!

By the way aren't we a Representative Republic? If we were a Democracy, Hillary would be President.

I indirectly asked for a source (the burden of proof is on the one making the claim BTW) and you tell me I failed miserably? Interesting.

Anyway, so basically it isn't any different from the 2009 stimulus.

Nope see 'scientific consensus'.

Where their opinions are more important than everyone elses.

Millennials hold like 1% of wealth and power in this world. Gen X pretty much just decided to shut up and take it. The Greatest Generation is dead.

That doesn't leave a lot of options for who screwed up the world.

What leads you to believe that climate scientists don't follow the scientific method? Do you have facts to back up these claims?

Seriously?

There's been a vote apparently.

A scientific consensus.

The planet is out to git us all.

Keep up.

She's also right that a lot of young people aren't having children because of the state of the world. I know that's the reason most of my friends give for not wanting kids.

Sorry but this is bullsh*t. There is a biological imperative, and most people accept that, but some people fight it. The ones who accept it try to have children, the ones who fight it try not to, and make excuses like "the world...it's so bad".

I don't get what point you're trying to make. There are 535 members of Congress. There are more scientists in the world. Yet you believe that Congress represents us more than scientists.

You are under the impression that the vote was held, and a scientific consensus reached, without the use of the scientific method to reach the conclusion?

Methinks you don't fully understand the scientific method.

There's a scientific consensus on gravity. And the world being round. And the sun being the center of our solar system. Are all of those scientists hacks, because they reached a consensus, when the scientific method should always be ongoing?
