How do we suck?

You asked....

nypost.com...

Imagine being forever lumped into a smug pack of narcissists who don’t just ignore the past, but openly abhor anyone and everything that came before them.

nice

Recently, a comment from a colleague hit me like a stray selfie-stick. She said, “In some ways I love being a millennial, because it’s so much easier to be better than the rest of our generation. Because they suck.” It was jarring to hear the truth so plainly stated. But she’s right. We suck. We really suck.

some help perhaps?

The situation looks bleak — but we can turn it around, millennials. Here’s how. Action item one: Stop blaming everybody. Don’t blame the big banks, don’t blame your mom, don’t blame the baby boomers, don’t blame your employer, your landlord, the economy, the Apple store, the media, the airlines, the weatherman, George R.R. Martin. By absolving ourselves of responsibility, we’ve become forever 8-year-olds, tattling on the world in hopes it will better our situation. It won’t. It will only make it crummier.

again
you asked....

Very well said, especially the last quote.

"Leftist douche twinkie" is still my favourite.

Brings some disturbing images to mind though.

We're talking about an agency that gets criticism for telling companies not to dump toxic sludge in public waterways.

How long has Flint not had drinkable water?

So yes, the EPA is in the pocket of Big Oil.

You are making my duty to ATS all that much easier with each post
What does Flint , Michigan lead in the water issue have to do with the EPA and the oil companies ?
Isnt water quality a responsibility of the local government first , then the State ?

You have now been denied twice.
I can keep it up as long as you can
The solution for you is simple
Stop taking the word of your neighbor as gospel

Citizens can fight climate change without giving the government untold powers to do it. The problem is they don’t want to. They want the government to do it,

Renewable energy. GASP!

No problem with renewable energy. Problem is not enough energy.

Smart grid. GASP!

That's already being put in place.

Better energy efficiency. GASP!

Yeah, when science can't achieve what the politicians want, it's a GASP.

Improved transportation like Japan. GASP!

Hasn't worked that well so far. In California, the Federal Railroad Administration has already stated that the new high-speed railway won't meet their first benchmark goal in 2022. The project started in 2015.

Reducing pollution. GASP!

No one is opposing that. We're opposing the silly idea that carbon dioxide at present levels qualifies as pollution.

More jobs. GASP!

We've got more jobs, and we're getting even more under the present arrangement. Under the last administration, we lost jobs. Expect us to be a bit cautious of the next promise.

Better education. GASP!

No one is against that.

Security clean air and water. GASP!

AOC is from New York City. What would she know about clean air and water? She drinks that recycled sewage and breathes air one can see... here, we have clean air and water. We want you and her to leave it alone.

Yeah, that was pretty much of a ***face-plant***, wasn't it?

I'm pretty sure there's probably some circular logic which will get you back to Flint, but it would probably start with the dinosaurs. Kind of like the 5 degrees of separation from Kevin Bacon thing.

Isn't this the way though?

If you aren't for complete authoritarian government control and 99% taxes, you hate clean water.

I think our public school system has failed. I know our colleges have.

At least AOC is doing something about climate change compared to trump. Trump thinks global warming is a Chinese conspiracy and has hired lots of anti-climate change people.

The only thing the Green New Deal did was...

...add more sand to the Vaseline!

I guess it's more "organic" that way!

The whole premise of the Green New Deal is that we’re screwed on climate,” she said. “At this point, we don’t even have to prove it — just walk outside in winter in a lot of places, and it’s either way worse than you’re used to, or way warmer than you’re used to.”

Try again.

The reason people are no longer acclimated to the climate is because WE SPEND MORE TIME indoors.

Heat, air conditioning watching tv, and tweeting bullsnip.

So no AOC doesn't know more than Trump.

Ok. So why complain about GND and AOC? She's just a young little girl and you guys give her too much credit and power. It's as if you guys are terrified of her.

Simple innovation.

But no, they want to restrict freedoms, loot the wealthy, force conformity and bankrupt the country.

I wouldn't say "fear" is the right word, but....

Wasn't it AOC, along with Markey, who recently proposed the GND???

So...that's why!

Actually it isn't a new proposal. The idea came from Roosevelt. AOC just added a few extras to it.
