Good for the both of you.

There's no place to move to if AOC gets her way.

You know, I am actually glad in some ways AOC has been elected. Seriously.

It gives her and her kind a legitimate platform to get some of these closet ideas out there. She's not just some booze addled bag person on the street corner holding a sign and chanting Bible verses about the imminent Apocalypse. She is educated (in theory anyway) and she has been duly elected by constituents of her State to represent their views.

That her ideas are completely unworkable in this country, and in this government structure, isn't really the point. The larger point is more she represents a whole swath of people who believe some of these fringe ideas. They're out there (i.e. they exist), and they vote. And, unlike the guy with the shopping cart full of belongings on the street corner, the one with the sign about the apocalypse, her voice won't be immediately dismissed as the rantings of a crazy person. Those rantings may be crazy, but they won't just be dismissed out of hand. No, her actions will be dispensed with due process of law and the will of the American people...for all to see. And it's this last part, ...'for all to see'...which is so important.

No, money doesn't just grow on trees, and mammoth social programs are not free, contrary to what AOC may believe. (BTW...the trees are 'dying' anyway if you sign over your soul to AOC's belief system.) These things come at the expense of other things, other much larger things, like the financial viability of an entire nation. Short term validation versus long term financial destruction. That these things are not sustainable is what the people need to see on the big stage, and under the bright lights.

That AOC exists is not the point so much as the fact that she was elected by a larger group of people with similar beliefs, misguided as they may be. But she needs to be given her day, her day to run these trial balloons up the political food chain in this country.

My .02

So Neo starts a thread complaining about AOC with no facts to go with it, yeh sounds like him. All opinion and talking out of his azz just because it is AOC.

No. The generation that won WWII was the Greatest Generation.

The Boomers were their children that accomplished nothing. So in response they ruined the world.

I say when things start to go crazy and the worst elements of climate change start to take lives, we should ignore any cries for help from the deniers and republicans. Let them pray to the invisible man in the sky and let them scream "you aren't real, so this is not happening" as they die. LMAO

Neo can cry about how it is AOC's fault.

OK then show me some facts that help your cause and if you go google is your friend, then I know you have nothing. You only know what you are told by right wing media which does not deal in facts.

Wow, so you come in here with nothing on topic at all? Here is a link the Green new deal from your favorite media. CNN is totally in the tank, but still admits we don't know how much this will cost (Trillions and Trillions at a minimum).

Here take a look for yourself.

I suggest read up on what it really is about instead of blindly listening to right wing media without doing your own homework.

The Facts on the ‘Green New Deal’

The text of the legislation, which is a nonbinding resolution, lays out a broad vision for how the country might tackle climate change over the next decade, while creating high-paying jobs and protecting vulnerable communities.

Without people like AOC being an elected official there is just political unrest. There is this pent up anger and frustration by people that their beliefs aren't being put out there and addressed. And, in some cases, these same people believe, perhaps wrongly so, their beliefs represent the mainstream of America when in fact they do not. Until these same people see the majority does not ascribe to their ideas they will continue to harbor these beliefs...up to, and including, the belief that using violence will help mete them out.

Thanks for finding an article that reiterates what I've been saying:

There were many setbacks over the past half-century that Baby Boomers are responsible for. To begin with, the values of the group are often criticized for causing many to develop unproductive attitudes and behavior patterns. For instance, the group is frequently said to be too materialistic, egotistical and self-centered and overly-anxious to assert its philosophies on others. Moreover, the group is currently split down the middle regarding social responsibility and generally helping fellow citizens. And finally, the group has attempted to spread democracy and other distinctly American values on people around the world creating a huge cultural schism between the U.S. and lesser-developed countries.

Looking back, some baby boomers have made huge missteps. Business people have disappointed America on a number of occasions driven by greed, ego and arrogance. I have been dumbfounded in several instances where, literally, billions of dollars were “invented” or stolen, and the perpetrators believed they could beat the system. In government, it is hard to ignore the terrible decisions made by our last president that led us to conflict in the Middle East. And most recently, we have been disappointed by the incompetent performance of our leaders, who are driven by power and ideology rather than a desire to make America a great place to live.
