Yeah, that’s the strongest counter argument. Pretty much most of the economic productivity gains over the last 30-40 years only went to the uber rich.

Non highly wealthy conservatives need to get their American Dream heads out their arses and realize those uber rich didn’t “earn all that money” and have been taking advantage of society. They take advantage of tax payer funded education, roads, police, subsidies in many cases, friendly politicians, etc.

income inequality

Here is the full equation for you to chart
Income inequality = jealousy + avarice .

This is the way I feel about the term and anyone that actually uses it in a serious way.
Steal from the ones that made the money , to give to those who do not want to.

hahaha I was basically going to say the same thing.

She seems to be occupying a lot of the minds of some members of ATS, they seem to get very emotional and upset whenever she does or says something that isn't entirely fitting with their world view.

Too simplistic.

The problem is that this model ignores the fact that in many cases, powerful individuals or companies have used everything from exploitation to war to corruption to accumulate that excessive wealth. Therefore, it’s missing the mark to claim that all criticism of said inequality is just based on laziness or jealousy. Some may be.

A good example is my family is upper middle class. I have a safety net. I myself have a pretty good job, have great benefits, and work hard.

However, I care about society and justice so while I myself don’t need aid, others do.

If they did not have the wealth at start , how did they get the power ?

I see a big , bad , green-eyed monster

Just because someone is wealthy doesn't mean they earned it fairly. Many times, millionaires and billionaires get there off the backs of their exploitered workers. No one becomes successful on their own. And how do many of them repay the system that made them? By paying their employees as little as humanly possible to maximize their share, and the shares of their shareholders. By hoarding their wealth in tax havens, or lobbying for corrupt tax laws that see them pay little to no taxes, while the rest of America suffers from stagnant wages and an ever-increasing tax bill. They buy our politicians and media companies and distract us with bull#, keep us busy fighting each other while they rob us. You have it backward.

You my friend need a healthy dose of trality. We have free education in Scotland. We still have dole bums (people happy living on benefits, too lazy to work), toilet cleaners, bum wipers, labourers, burger flippers and all those.

Realistically, how many of those you mentioned will apply? Now, how many of those who apply will have the credentials to succeed in gaining a course? How many of those who are offered a place will end up actually doing it? How many of those who start the course will make it to the end and, actually pass?

Not nearly as many as you think...

Seems that redistribution of wealth is but another nail in the coffin of the US Republic....and closer to the Venezuala-ization of the USA.

I've heard more talk since the midterms about concern for socialists in the Dem party that I have heard in decades.
I hope people are waking up!

Yet, you just confirmed that just because taxpayers pay for the schooling...many will not make use of it, be able to find the career choice nor complete the education. Realistically, it seems that most won't appreciate the free gift compared to those that actively seek to better themselves as they do now. It seems like it is better if they have some 'skin in the game' so to speak.

Seriously, AOC makes it easy to chuckle at the DNC, not her specifically. Speaking as an ex-democrat...the DNC has totally lost their course in 2016 especially. Bernie was far left of the DNC that is why he was Independent until 2016!

The main reason that he had support in 2016 was because of Hillary! He was an outsider like Trump running on a Partisan ticket...that's all. Sure Trump got elected, come vote day he was the outlier.

Unfortunately, the DNC doesn't seem to recognize that. They thought Bernie's popularity meant they should go further left...especially since Trump is damn near center! They need to wake up.

Repubs certainly didn't like Trump either but at least they seem to have awakened to the reality that moving towards the center base line makes the majority experience win/win. The minority extreme outliers will always not be satisfied.

I just wish more of the Dems would realize that AOC was only elected because she was considered the district underdog to a district who felt they were being ignored by everyone else politically. AOC is a Bernie and yes...she is a Trump. Simply a statement of discontent.

Trying to figure out your maths here, why would the number of multi-millionaires double from last year? The numbers don't work without you having to add double the number of multi-millionaires, in fact that does a disservice to what you're trying to prove...

Because I couldn't find any specific numbers on how many multimillionaires make more than $10 million. Which is why i used "guesstimates." One was too high, which I mentioned it probably was too high, and the other one was a more conservative estimate. Even then I wrote "these are only guesstimates."

No matter how you view it AOC/Berni Sander's policies would not be "sustainable" at all. These programs will bankrupt this nation, and cause the large majority of people living in the U.S. to live in conditions similar to what is happening in Venezuela.

Who is financing her rise?
That is where the secret lies.

How is it a secret? Campaign contributions are publicly available.

Campaign Finances

And we have to trust that those are the only contribution she gets? Plenty of people, such as George Soros, have a multitude of programs and agencies that they use to funnel money to people like AOC.

Yep, you have to wonder how much "cash" has been given to AOC, and Bernie Sanders, by liberals like George Soros who want to implement socialism in the U.S.

Cash donations are not all reported, and how exactly would people know if those people who would report such tactics were not there to see the donations in cash?

You have to chuckle at the irony of people like you talking about "our roads, police, firefighters, etc", when it is people like you who also want to ban all fossil fuels, which would mean no more roads since asphalt comes from fossil fuels. There would be no new equipment for our firefighters and police, since they do use a lot of products that come from fossil fuels. Not to mention their equipment and vehicles that use...fossil fuels...

As for "those who make profits..." What do you want? policies that confiscate that money making the rich poor which will destroy most jobs in the U.S.?...

There was a group of evil people who also demanded the confiscation of profits from speculation, and all profits from war...

Another factor is that a lot of that wealth is inherited. Forbes found that over 60% of the 400 richest people in America grew up in substantial privilege. Another study found that the richest 1% inherited, on average, $4.8 million. And yet another study found that about 40% of all wealth in the US is inherited.

So it's very disingenuous to say that the wealthiest of us earned their riches through hard work and perseverance. They inherited a boatload of cash giving them opportunities your average worker does not get.

Can’t you just see the roads only used for bikes (that’s part of Agenda 21 actually but no one realizes yet what those bike paths are really for ... it’s to replace cars...good luck getting tourism into Yellowstone). Anyway, this is really unrealistic stuff the utopians are proposing.
