Fixing the global warming does not involve a trillion dollars being spent, it involves people only buying what they need and not wasting. It involves spending your vacation locally instead of flying to Europe or Hawaii or taking a cruise ship vacation.

I think throwing money at it will just raise the amount of climate change, producing all of that new energy saving crap is economically friendly, not ecologically friendly. These people can't see they are being scammed. Just buy what you need, treating yourself Just occasionally to reward yourself occasionally. Flying all over the world is the worst thing we can do for the environment.

Most folks just can't comprehend how big our planet is and how little we affect the atmosphere.

Perception is a bitch.

We look around us and we see trees and mountains and skyscrapers, yet if you were big enough to hold the Earth in the palm of your hand, it would be as smooth as a queball and you would need a microscope to find a human.

a reply to: drewlander I was in a union when I was much younger also. All that union did was insure the deadwood kept their jobs, and good woorkers had to pick up the slack. In my case, the right person caught me working.
That opened a lot of doors for me. The union winnies gave me grief, because I was given a chance to test for a higher level hourly job ahead of some who had more seniority. But I had the knowledge and training and I passed the test. I caught flack from the union and my co-workers, who unaware of my training and education said I slept my way up. They made it hard to leave the union, but I did. Eventually becoming the first female flight test engineer.

We can afford it. When the government needs money they simply print it. All your ink and paper in the bank is worth as much as the government is willing to dilute. That being said, we should just do away with taxes since the government habitually dilutes the value of your money by putting more into circulation anyway.

You are an ignoramous if you actually believe that.

Venezuela took your advice and now they have people starving everywhere absolutely no economy to speak of, piles and piles of worthless cash sitting in ditches that nobody wants, and civil unrest.

Seriously you fool - what gives money value - something that backs it up, which is the production of it's citizens (yes the ability to tax that value) and the countries natural resources. You can print to your hearts content but that changes absolutely nothing about the value that backs up the money. All you do is destroy the value of all the existing money in existence, which destroys the economy. The purchasing power of 10 trillion dollars or 100 trillion dollars is exactly the same. The only thing that changes is the amount of dollars it takes to buy the same stuff.

How is the economy destroyed - well first off loans become impossible, because nobody knows if the government is going to just print more money - and screw the person loaning out of all value so nobody will loan at any interest rate. Second people with money saved will lose their ability to buy stuff, create jobs, or spend anything because they feel a need to hoard every dime they have because the government has gone crazy.

Shut your goddamn mouth if all you are going to do is spit out horse manure.

A far-reaching new policy aims to reduce emissions, give everyone jobs, and convince rural voters to side with the Democrats, all at the same time.

It's not about saving the planet AT ALL.

Well, we could ask a UN IPPC Official about what climate change is all about...

(EDENHOFER): First of all, developed countries have basically expropriated the atmosphere of the world community. But one must say clearly that we redistribute de facto the world's wealth by climate policy. Obviously, the owners of coal and oil will not be enthusiastic about this. One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate policy is environmental policy. This has almost nothing to do with environmental policy anymore, with problems such as deforestation or the ozone hole.

Quora Interview with Ottmar Edenhofer

He should know better than anyone, right?

A rare case, but im glad you were able to advance on your own merits. Unions are the embodiment of mediocrity.

While this thread is about kamala harris speaking on the topic of socialism, i think the present state of unions are a good comparison in many respects. I apologize if i derailed this thread with my union comment.

I was wondering if any of you has actually read the deal or just parroting what you are told by Trump, FOX news or other conservative media?

Cool it bozo. Of course i believe the government just prints more money. What do you think happens when they vote to raise the debt ceiling every year? Do you think they just happen to have all those trillions sitting around in high yield municipal bonds? No. More money is printed.

The better question is whether i agree with this, and the answer is "no" but they will continue to spend your money before you can earn it, and there is nothing stopping them.

Nope.

Because no 'deal' has been reached. All we have to go on are the words of the proponents. Kamala Harris has her Green New Deal, Alexandria Ocaso-Cortez has her Green New Deal, etc. They seem to have some things in common, though, and none of them good. The Green New Deal is nothing more than a call to arms for the base, a scare tactic with social utopia thrown in for good measure to get out the vote in 2020.

Robotic productivity is off the charts! Why do you think UBI is being discussed. Soon you will only need 100,000 people to produce every product needed by 7.53 billion. People need jobs. People need the opportunity to pursue happiness. The alternative of mass genocide for the unemployed from starvation has to be immoral whether God exists or not!

All the while drinking Hammer and Sickle tea.

Of course they know not how to wield a hammer

Is there an APP for that?

When the asteroid hits,
it will be global warming.
In the meantime, the whole concept
is a Globalist Plan to restrict American business
and offshore the industries and pollution to
cheap labor countries that have no environmental
standards at all. Kind of like "there is a hole in the sky".

Why is the democratic party infested with complete and utter morons?

We can afford to spend trillions that do absolutely NOTHING.

The left is hungry for ideas!

Ideas don't do snip.

Climate change is an 'existential' threat to us!

Harris is a dumb arse.

Harris said, “It’s not about a cost. It’s about an investment. And the question should be, is it worth the cost in terms of the investment potential? Are we going to get back more than we put in?”

The first rule of investing.

Don't waste money.

We can afford to spend TRILLIONS because don't snips want ideas.

Here's an IDEA.

The biggest threat we face are morons like Harris.

I retort.

YOU DECIDE.

PS how does medicare for all do snip about greenhouse gases or what ever else they pull out of their rears.

Think about how money gets created. Its becoming widely known now; that banks create money out of thin air when they create a credit account.

Whats wrong with government creating all the money it needs for its own uses?

How is it any different to the banks doing it with the govt as the borrower?

Government spends money into the economy in roughly 3 ways;
1- by spending on national infrastructure and services
2 - by spending it through corporate welfare and
3- by spending it through the welfare system for individuals.

At the end of the day, the only thing that gives money value and its the only thing that backs money, no matter who creates it, is the productive capacity of the nations people. They are the ones who transform it into goods and services

So its possible this bloke might not be altogether wrong.
