The Vehicle to have when the SHTF

A motorbike is a good vehicle to use in a crisis, you didn't specify what actually hit the fan though.
Did a volcano erupt? WW3 broke out? EMP hit Earth?

The fastest route out of anything is to drive along a main road or motorway but you don't want to get stuck in traffic because assuming everyone is in a rush to get away from whatever it is, there will certainly be a crash up ahead blocking everyone behind. At that point you will need a vehicle capable of driving off-road.

Personally I would use a dune buggy. It takes up just over twice the width of a bike and can carry a lot more storage to keep you safe for longer, plus room for another passenger. Dune buggies are designed to be driven off road and should be more comfortable for off-road driving than a bike.

Don't bother driving away without some typical survival equipment

Good walking boots paper maps, night vision and backpacks. Travel at night slowly.

A small CC bike can easily pull a trailer with a load of gear on it, same for the bike if sensibly packed. Knowledge is another big thing to have, like what do you run it on when theirs no petrol. Like you can put vegetable oil in the crankcase, warm it up on gas then switch to kerosene, or make your own alcohol , but you would have to change the carb jets, or carry jets for alcohol, a rule of thumb is measure the jet size , multiply by 1.3 and drill them out at that size.Yes any diesel will run on cooking oil, and the tests done say that vegetable oil is as good as normal car oil, motorbikes used to run on castor oil and alcohol in the day.
