What’s the incentive to be successful? The harder you work the more they take.

I do not get why people do not figure out the net that americans earned in a year and then figure out what percent of that goes toward taxes and then set that rate for all. After that we could work on spending and individuals would actually feel direct benefit from smaller government.

If we cut government right now we would never really directly feel the effects cause they would be absorbed by the government and that makes people not care.

It is interesting she chose the $10 million mark.

I wonder why.

Opened your link, still wondering why?

Perhaps you could explain the connection?

I wish they would just want a flat tax for all. People and corporations and no deductions.

If she were to put pen to paper she just might like what she would find at 15%.

Of coarse everyone gets to earn 100$ a day tax free 40 hrs a week.

ZERO income tax is the only fair rate.

The connection is AOC used a false equivalence to justify her stupidity.

The 1950s tax rate she used to justify her authoritarianism is a lie.

It was a straight up 90% tax no lipstick.

And everyone knows Cortez's party just love raising taxes, and creating new ones.

By the way.

However, despite these high marginal rates, the top 1 percent of taxpayers in the 1950s only paid about 42 percent of their income in taxes.

And the cost of living was significantly lower.

Pro athletes are going to love this idea.
A player finally gets his $15 million per season contract and pays 70% tax on the last $5 million.

Never mind they only get paid that kind of money for a few years and are retired at age 30.

Do not take tax advice from a bartender.

Actually I'm liking this.... Let the super rich left enjoy. Be funny how they might get a 9 mil per year for 30 year contract to get around it all, hell CEOs could get a 50 year deal...

Where is the false equivalence and what has that got to do with the link you posted about the documentary?

For the record I don't support very high levels of marginal tax but I am extremely unclear to the point you are making?

Do people NOT read?

"By the way, we used to have marginal tax rates, under Republican presidents of 90%, and it was when we experienced some of the greatest rates of economic growth."

More than 2,00o Americans made in excess of $10 million last year. Most of them probably earned it, perhaps at investment banks or hedge funds. Some may be rich farmers who paid themselves well as the prices of commodities rose. Some of the group may have created thousands of jobs. People who make much less than the “super rich” do want them taxed at new high rates.

Many people in the federal government want to tax Americans with high incomes. Neither White House proposals nor congressional counter proposals have included statistics that show who the rich really are. That means high taxes could be regressive in many cases. Bankers who face tax increases may not change their work habits. People who own modest-sized businesses may.

Since no one involved in the tax-the-rich debate has provided a census of who America’s highest-paid people are, the debate lacks the facts needed to tell whether the action would make much sense.

Netflix has been good to politics as of late...

Ginsburg is upset to have died 10 TIMES to score a theatrical piece. 😊

Edit: Larry King will comment in the not so near future. 😆

Well what do we do about 50% of American who pay little or no federal taxes? And to be honest they can't afford much anyways. If we went with 10% flat how does that 40k family handle 4k reduction?

Maybe the idea of earning 10 million a year would be an incentive?

God, paying 70 percent of earnings over 10 mill is hardly gonna put anyone in the poor house, is it?
