Some of you people are unhappy that some counties are putting the Constitution of the United States of America, the supreme law of the land.... above those laws that violate it.

You should be celebrating it

CBS 7 quoted Lea County Sheriff Corey Helton saying, “You’re just taking guns out of law-abiding citizen’s hands. This is not going to affect the criminals out there. They’re going to be able to get guns and they do not follow the law.”

The Sheriff is quite right though. Criminals will find ways through the black markets, no one is stopping the black markets through laws right?

It seems the liberal plan of centering liberal policy in urban centers is coming to fruition. Then there are those that believe in the founding principles of the United States, the US Constitution and Bill of Rights. The US Government is fast becoming that tyrannical government we were warned about back in the 18th century, especially now that it becoming more and more infiltrated by the far far far left socialists.

I don’t have the answer since the millennials and the generation before and after have been indoctrinated since kindergarten to vote socialist and somehow been convinced that their socialist masters can give them everything they desire...for FREE no less. I do know that I will NEVER vote in socialism and those that do deserve what they get.

I do find it refreshing that since state legislatures can thumb their nose at settled Federal law (illegal immigration rules), that patriot county officials are willing to demonstrate what is good for the goose is good for the gander.

I have heard about this before many times, government puts a law out there and the local law enforcement simply disagree with the law and don't enforce it.

Well, actually it is the Constitution that doesn't agree with these laws, and these law enforcement people swore an oath to uphold the law of the land. So any new laws that are blatantly unconstitional can't be obeyed without disobeying the supreme law.

So these Sheriffs are doing their sworn duty by not enforcing illegal laws.

While I agree with most of what you're saying, I do have an issue with the 'safe management' bit. Who is to say what is safe management to me, in my own home? I often have weapons 'laying around and loaded'. The entire point of having such a power self defense tool is that it's ready when it's needed. Having to spend time dialing in a combination, putting in a clip, and chambering a round takes precious seconds when those home invaders are charging towards you.

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not advocating gun negligence. I happen to be in a unique situation with no one else here with me. And I wholeheartedly agree with the fact a lot of gun owners don't use their weapons enough to practice safe use and 'storage'. Stupid is as stupid does. Just that some blanket law saying you have to keep your weapon unloaded and locked is a one size fits all fantasy panacea that can't work for every situation. IMHO, we already have too many of those.

I thought we were against sanctuary cities... Just handle this the normal way, through the courts.

I completely support this. If Sanctuary Cities can ignore Federal Immigration laws, then why not ignore State gun laws?

Six New Mexico counties are reacting to the state-level push for a red flag law and universal background checks by making clear they will not enforce the new gun controls.

The Santa Fe New Mexican reports that the counties are doing this via “Second Amendment Sanctuary” resolutions. So far the counties of Eddy, Curry, Quay, Union, Socorro, and San Juan, have adopted the resolutions.

CBS 7 quoted Lea County Sheriff Corey Helton saying, “You’re just taking guns out of law-abiding citizen’s hands. This is not going to affect the criminals out there. They’re going to be able to get guns and they do not follow the law.”

Meet the freedom fighters.

This needs to go nationwide.

A clear message needs to be sent to gunphobes. We will no longer be under your boot.

Second amendment Sanctuary resolution.

Let FREEDOM ring!

Gun control laws absolutely need to be enacted. Plain and simple.

I grew up in a household in which, when I was twenty-five, I had a nine-millimeter beretta, Smith and Wesson 357, and a M-60 Russian Sniper rifle with a five hundred scope and snail clip on it under my bed. I can, still to the day, shoot them all with accuracy.

I don't need any of them.

Stop hiding behind the ambiguous language of the Second Amendment.

The second amendment protects all the other amendments that's why it's 2nd. The first one allows me to yell at you to get out of my house before I exercise the 2nd and fill you full of holes. So if you take away those 2 well the whole constitution might as well not exist, the 2nd is the foundation of all rights period. That's when tyranny is allowed to step in unchecked.

Unfortunately, your ability to shoot doesn't seem to have translated into any recognizable ability to reason.

It's not ambiguous to most of us. Only those who want to spin it that way seem to think it so. But lucky you, you got to own all those guns under your bed......what's your point?

This is about people standing for their rights. Right now, people are losing their constitutional rights, fighting to retain the 1st and 2nd amendments. We shouldn't have to fight for our constitutional rights in our own country. Do you get that? Or is it only about guns, guns, guns. A civil uprising starts with civil disobedience. Once power is lost, it is difficult to regain.

Disdain for the left's antics changing the rules in the middle of the game won't fly. Sure, people have been sorta passive but they'll get more aggressive as time goes on. And why not? The Left themselves were trailblazers in ignoring the laws of this country. They set the standard for us all to follow with such a good solid strong example at how to shove their noses up at the law of the land. Their unprecedented actions paved the way for every and all laws to be ignored with the "Sanctuary" title in front of any city in the un-United States of America that chooses to disobey. After all, what's good for the goose is good for the gander.

People just don’t get the fact that it’s not the governments right or responsibility to protect people from harming themselves in their own homes.. It’s a shame that people die from negligence with firearms, but it’s not the responsibility of the government to deal with it. The problem is that a lot of gun owners don’t use their guns enough to practice safe use and storage of them.

Perhaps there could be laws pertaining to safe management in the home? If someone is found to have guns lying around loaded they could get fines?

Either way, someone needs to point out that all these incidents are crimes and they’re being committed by people who are bent on breaking laws in the first place.. All this talk about guns just gives bad guys more ideas.. As a nation we need to just get over it. America is an armed nation and it’s always going to be that way.

If only there was an organization out there who's mandate is firearm safety and education.

Someone should start one and call it the National Firearms Association. Or something similar.
