Yeah.. That's what it is...

Couldn't possibly be anything else, amirite? Larson is strong, an innovator, the best actress (artist!) of our (all!) time.

Seriously, this type of dismissal is getting really, really old. There are a ton of strong female characters and leads that the fanbase loves, and I mean loves!

Because they are fantastic.

Personally, my biggest concern is the decimation of beloved franchises. There is still a wee bit left of what made them beloved, but any and all criticism are dismissed similarly to how you dismissed this. Because of that, the likelihood of any criticism actually being considered is slim to none.

That's a shame when we are talking about IPs that were great to many people. From Ghostbusters to Doctor Who, we see storytelling, actual strong characters, continuity, and even acting skill all go out the window in order to preach.

"Show, don't tell" is a thing for a reason, yanno?

Extra credit points go to Disney for apparently hiring a butt double for Larson. Normally a meh thing, but in this context.. hilariously ironic

Anyway, for me, the issue here is Larson's seeming inability to have a facial expression other than smug and bored. Once its seen, it can't be unseen.

I'm simple viewer who at one point in my life Nic Cage was my favorite actor (I know, I know). I didn't look at his acting, I looked at whether or not his movies entertained me...and they did.

That is what I look to in viewing these Marvel movies. I love them because I am highly amused.

Not an argument, just an observation.

I agree with you. There are quite a few great Female leads that are great.

btw you missed Ripley from Aliens. She was badass.

Yes

Why would they issue a refund?

There is a video on YouTube showing someone's pre-order tickets for Captain Marvel and Alita Battle Angel. You can return one of them. Guess which one?

"Oh, Elders, fleet and strong and wise, appear before my seeking eyes! "
Shazam!

one of my best childhood memories.

on topic i'm not against female superhero's or action stars. what i hate is when they take a known character and change them. no matter how good she was in the role Starbuck was a man, so was Captain Marvel. how would people feel about wonder man, or Pa Hunkel, Jesse Jones or any of the countless other female superheros being turned in to male heroes. let their own stories carry them if the make the cut fine but if they flop, must not have been all that great.

Eh, I wound up having less problems with what they did to Starbuck, but they found the right actor to pull it off. What I really couldn't excuse is what they did to Apollo. For all the good they did making Starbuck good, they butchered Apollo.

There was a reason Rogue stole Ms. Marvel’s powers in the comics.

Just saying.

Maybe she's taking " the only bad publicity is none" quite too literally. Her main remarks are about white males, but she even said all males shouldn't pay to see it because it would trigger their toxic masculinity.

Funny thing is, the only books I ever see woman read are tabloids or novels then comics. Hell, how much of Star Wars market isnt a bunch of white males, white, or just male?

It reminds of the time Gillette died.
