Petrol vehicles need to be made illegal with a massive reimbursement system and/or socialist style replacement of all non-commercial vehicles with electric ones.

Most gas station corporations need to stop selling gasoline because there wont be a market for it, thus being forced to take massive losses, and convert to electric stations while also inevitbly shutting down locations and firing employees in a restructuring process.

Beef as a food source needs to be made illegal and milk products regulated. Cow farts from too many cows is actually one of the biggest contributors to global warming. Citizens should be weened from beef and to a lesser extent milk products as a vegetarian and vegan diet and menu takes hold across the nation through a generation.

Results will be minimal, as the SUN is the major regulator of global climate. Besides, global warming advocates fart too...

its not really up to the government, there is enough information for us all to read and comprehend and then change our wasteful lifestyles where we can or....

A global warming scenario has been around since the 19th century...it didn't stop 20th century governments fecking around with nuclear bomb testing which probably did more harm than anything else, it's only in the later half of the 20th century that governments got on to the idea that AGW/GW/CC could be a profitable cash cow as the oil runs out.

The ONLY way the USA could save the planet is to take over the rest of the world, most likely, by force. Anything less will not do any good. (it would be a half or less measure to go green unilateraly) However, the use of force would cause a nuclear weapons exchange that would warm the planet, then cool the planet creating climate change, the very thing that we are trying to prevent.

Sorry to be didactic, but some of you seem to not have a clue.

Kill off 80% of the population. And I am serious. Peeps may not want to admit it...but we iz bad for the environment.

I've seen many suggest similar, but I think there's a good chance that actually carrying out depopulation may exacerbate the issue.

Greatly simplified, our issue comes down to efficiency. I'm not sure if there is actually a label for it, but each individual human consumes a certain amount of resources (from land for food to fuel for heat to oil drilling for plastics).

By actually carrying out depop, we have no reason to examine this and may very well find ourselves in a worse situation with less people.

As for solutions, well.. the closest most deliver is what "should" be done. There is little to offer on the "how" side of things. Once technology advances to the point we can address the "how," we will already be implementing it and it'll be a moot point.

Of course, that normal process of advancement greatly reduces the ability to gather funds that have little to no oversight, based on empty rhetoric. So, they gotta play their hand and vaccuum that money now, while they can.

If it can all be worked into the programming, all the better.

The government of the USA needs to do nothing at this point, the governments of India and China, as well as other massive polluters on the other hand...

To change the climate, all countries need to be on the same page. Maybe a One World Government could make things happen.

begin a U.N. type of Project in Space..... constructing a very large Array of Orbiting Screens allowing only 80% of the Sunlight to reach a Band that spans the Earth's Equatorial Zone only...

from an artists conception, just visualize a golden wedding band ringing around the Earth Equator some place beyond the current Int'l Space Station...

the 'band' of screening-material/reflective polymer would encircle the Planet, and initially be around 100 miles wide & as thick as 20mm. carbon-fiber mesh...

the stabelized structure could then be added onto/made wider in 20 mile increments as scientists/AI computers decide is needed to better regulate the streaming sunlight that heats the Earth environment....

cheaper than the theorized Dyson Sphere those Aliens are building around that other Star that's light years distant from us.

a Global project that mobilizes the Earth inhabitants for generations to come...
And this suggestion would result in: Something to show for the money spent/taxed/generated...

I think the mistake you're making is in thinking the US Administration alone can fix global warming, after all, it's not just a US problem, it's a problem for all humankind (actaually it risks all life but it's being caused (at least partially) by humans) and it's going to take nothing short of the co-operation of almost every country in the world to fix.

If you give 99% of your income to the government, have a zero carbon footprint, recycle, live totally green and off the grid, have a complete vegan diet, don't drink, do drugs, smoke. . . . . . .

You will still die.

Science.
