You didn't read my OP didya? I like her, but you CANNOT bang on about rich people, and then move into a place that practices gentrification.....the same issues that got her elected....she has embraced.

Please refute this with something sembling logic.

I did. It's not ideal that she's moving into a gentrified area, but did you really think that she was going to move to the ghetto?

This makes no sense. Of course she's going to move somewhere nice and safe. That's politics for ya.

Also, Trump claims to understand and care about the plight of the middle and lower classes, while crapping in a gold toilet. Has anyone on ATS (that supports him) called him out for that?

I mean, if we're gonna call out AOC for "hypocrisy", then we need to call all of them out.

When said AOC is vehemently AGAINST said acts?

I'm personally "vehemently AGAINST" the high price of electricity and fuel... Does that mean I'm a hypocrite too? Since I own a car and live in a house, which has electricity?

I grew up in DC during the 'murder capital' years. It was cheap as all getout back then because no one cared about it in the slightest. It has, since that time undergone a massive rebuild/gentrification/whitening and now is on par with SF for rent costs. There is very little affordable housing left and is basically unrecognizable to me. If you live in DC, you are going to pay bigly. Doesn't matter who you are.

She had a choice. She made them. She lives with them.

What's the issue here?

She worked hard and now earns a decent salary. Why can't she use it to live in a nice apartment?

You've hit the nail on the head, methinks.

Pretty much everyone on these threads is SO pro-capitalism. Make more money so you can buy more stuff, it's the American way!
And they're entirely against Socialism.

Yet, when someone they can't stand uses the system they SAY SHE SHOULD USE, she's still wrong.

She makes six figures a year. It's perfectly ok to live in a nice place, and I'd argue that doesn't go against anything she espouses. Regardless of what you think she stands for, she is definitely not Communist. "Everyone gets exactly the same stuff" is not her mantra. She wants everyone to be able to comfortably live, not comfortably live the exact same way.

Furthermore, she has a very recognizable face, I'd say a part of choosing to live here is for protection. According to most people here, a lot of people hate her. I wouldn't want to live in a shady neighborhood if I were her either.

According to most of ATS, she can do no right, regardless of what she does.

This is "TDS", but for AOC. Precisely the same thing.

AOC-DS.

The irony is this development was sued for forcing out low income peoples and housing fairly recently, a topic AOC is vehemently against rightfully so. Its not about the cost perse it's about not finding a company that hasn't done this and been sued for it.

But she is a socialist....oh wait.

Even in the most socialized system there is still the haves and the have nots. What people do not understand is that the poor still live a poor life as everyone is still not equal.

DC is a dangerous city.... Most of it.... I suppose you expected her to live in a ghetto in East huh?
Amongst the little people..... with guns and on drugs?

How do they have guns? I thought the strict gun laws there would keep guns out of the hands of bad people.....right? Isn’t that the narrative? Guess it doesn’t work in the real world but I’m guessing those walls and fences in her area are doing a good job of keeping her safe.

State-to-state or city-to-city gun laws do nothing. What does is matter if Chicago or DC has stricter gun laws when you can drive a few miles in VA where they are loosey-goosey with gun oversight. This argument ignores the facts every time... cause agenda. Real change will come when someone with some sense can get in there and enact nationwide regulation (that's actually enforced).

Two things:

Would you say she's worked harder than actual workers?

And how do you feel about Maxine Waters having only passed/sponsored 5 bills in her entire decades spanning career, to become worth millions, on a public servants salary?

That's an extremely subjective question.

But I will say that from what I've read about her, that I think she's an extremely motivated young lady and totally deserves her 170k salary and nice apartment.

I'm happy for her.

That's like, a completely different subject and has nothing to do with this thread.

Another political hit piece against the left folks....
Just another day on ATS.... where the jokes keep coming.

No.

It's a piece on REALITY where the facts are clearly going way way above the heads of "interior decorators"

She does not "need" to live in an apt with two pools, gyms, etc. There are secure buildings that do not have these LUXURY amenities. AOC CHOSE to live there.

The issue that you can't understand is that before being elected, AOC specifically opposed the very type of building she now lives in.

She would deny other people what she takes for herself.

Ultimate hypocrite.

If you like having your toilet paper, we promise that you can keep your toilet paper if we have enough for the peasants. All you have to do is stand in line for 10 hours if we decide to send a truck.

Oh no ... you really can keep your toilet paper, but no one will explain why that Charmin now has the exact texture and feel of tree bark even while it manages to hold up about as well as wet tissue paper when you try to wipe with it.
